Looking to buy some Duragrit burrs or similar looking for advice to be used for small carving/shaping/finishing jobs on wood turnings.

Sorry for the delay, but I couldn't remember a certain one of the tools I was going to recommend and wanted to give a complete picture. Memory is now working so here goes...

I have a Duragrit burr but I don't particularly like it as I never found it that effective.

I have several Saburr burrs and like them a lot. I have yellow and green versions of the 1/8 Inch Shank Ball Nose and a bur shaped one. They can take a while to remove material but they do a good job.

If I want to remove material quickly I use a rotary chisel. I think I have CT100 style A. It works really well, I should probably make more use of it!

When using these it's always in a Dremel.

Not tried the Duragrit burrs but I am interested that Duncanh suggests that he's not too impressed with them. For piercing my turnings I use piercing cutters provided by Woodart Products. These come in a range of straight shanked sizes and in a limited range of other shapes..... Balls cones etc. Proxxon also have a reasonable range of TC burrs that have worked well and left a good finish. It is sometimes necessary to find the most effective speed to work theses sort of tools at. It isn't always the fastest speed that gives the best results.
