Hi there

I would like some advice on finishing a collection plate from my local church.

Its made out of Ash about 12" dia and i don't know which would be the best finish.

Many thamks Olwyn

Interesting one, I think I'd go for a hard wax (such as Chestnut microcrystalline) or maybe Rustins Plasticoat.

Hi Olwyn,

I recently did a pair of Elm Platters for just such a job. I used 4 or 5 coats of Chestnut Hard Wax oil and a top of Chestnut MC Wax. These 2 finished are both designed to be hard wearing and resistant to handling, although both are relatively new products I thought this would be the perfect use for them.

I don't think the picture really shows it off to it's best but the customer was over the moon with them so that's good enough for me!!!
