A wedding present for our eldest grandson, this one is to the design chosen by the couple. (first was my surprise and choice)

So I purchased another quartz clock, this one from Amazon and the reason it had a metal bezel and when purchased off the web I hoped it would disassemble easily and it did.

and I get a bonus, a movement holder (circular, and I do not have a lathe these days)

A couple of afternoons in the workshop and things are progressing well.

My last piece of board of so called Brazillian Mahogany, I purchased around 6 cu.ft twelve years ago from a local builders merchant, PAR and it cost me around £180 at the time which was enough to put me off wood working for life, I had just placed an order for a Triton workstation and most of the accessories that went with the machine, had a lot of use from the Triton and still use the router table and its parts.

The piece of board as from that merchant an 12 years on!

Prepared the housings on top and bottom section of clock and used the router table this time instead of cutting them with the hand held router and double sided tape.

A dry run with the four main pieces of the carcass.

The unassembled clock face and movement fitted to some 3mm ply.

So its back to the workshop and now the rain to contend with.

Put the drawer dividing piece in and did a bit of cleaning up with mouldings and finally glued the frame. Pleased to see this morning that everything is square.

Starting on the door and drawer hopefully today.

Nearly there, had a couple of sessions since the last post.

cut the drawer front and dry run fit.

Made up a drawer and because its is small I have only butt jointed, however I have made some runners using some Costa stirring sticks, (must get some more, they are very handy for lots of things)

Next task was getting the clock face to fit my carcass so the outer ring of clock dial was cut to fit.

Another dry run, the drawer and door have been fitted, (glass to come)

I now have the problem of hanging the door, and I am scared!!!!!!!
Also I have to fit beading to hold in glass of door and there are design problems to overcome!

The clock was completed yesterday, after fitting front glass door frame to carcass without hinges,(they are not required) . the drawer has been fitted with a pull knob and a coat of teak oil applied.

Edit sorry the posting of thread at the forum this morning is going haywire, perhaps its my computer?
