I bought a used Mercury Mk1 and when I bought it I checked for movement on the spine and there wasn't any, unfortunately when I got it home and put a drill bit in I found lots of run out. Looks like the guy has tried to get the chuck apart and done damage to the jaws.

Bottom line is I've mangled the jaws trying to get it apart.

I believe I need a JT33 socket chuck ? Should I just buy Jacobs (almost as much as I paid for the drill) or can anyone recommend a different one ?

Jim :(

Hi Jim,
Fear not. Arc Euro Trade sell a keyless chuck to fit a JT33 arbor for just over £20...

They're a good firm and I have no hesitation in recommending them.
