I went Christmas shopping in Chester with the family at the weekend. If you must, this is the way to do it:

What a splendid machine. I just love that there are people around crazy enough to undertake a project like that.

At Chester station we were joined by 70013 Oliver Cromwell at the next platform. Looked like a scene from days gone by :D

Lovely... back to those days when GB used to actually make stuff.
 
It's a cracking engine, and a credit to the team who built her.

Earlier this year, as part of trials to see if steam traction could be fitted better into the operating patterns of the modern mainline, the engine was run at 100mph between Newcastle an Darlington. It managed it with no problems.

The team that built her are currently working on another new build, a replica of a class that didn't survive into preservation, the LNER P2.
