I am having motor tripping problems, Chardwood sent me a replacement control box, still the same, am I expecting to much from a mini Lathe (cutting a 6" Bowl softwood) or is there a problem?
Hello and welcome. Can't help, I'm afraid, I would think you're question would be better in the turning section,
In case you don't know, go to forum at the page top which will get you all the various sections.

It's only 250w - a 6" bowl is pushing it if you try to cut a bit heavy or use a blunt tool. Iirc this question has cropped up before with the same lathe.

As Phil says above, I googled the Charnwood w815 and its recommended for smaller stuff, pen turning etc,
So you need a bigger lathe as he says, for the bowl turning, the whole lathe is for delicate work and I would think even fitting another bigger motor would put strain on the small bearings and headstock.

I bought a Charnwood table saw last year it started to play up from new.
. I profess to understand electro mechanicals so with the help of Charnwood set about fixing it.
They did offer to take it back
Long story short , the dust cover was slightly holding in the stop button on the no voltage switch. So the saw would run and then for no apparent reason cut out.
I have to say Charnwood techy was most helpful and as surprised as me as to the cause.
