Before you ask: yes! Read up on safety standards and building with appropriate clearances..
I'm using the mortice bed locks available here: https://www.bedslats.co.uk/fp-bed-conne ... ckets.html and was wondering how best to do the end grain recess for the long stretchers?
Rockler bring out a bunch of lovely hand tools for the easy bit then break out the power router! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opYBcOaSAbE
I'm working by hand and don't have a robust enough router fence to do what the video shows - it's just an in-expensive bit of kit for use with some jigs.
Other question is the safety rails. I could make a bunch more mortice and tenons but it's the practicality of maneuvering the long rails for test-fitting that is going to make it awkward.
Solution: use the same fittings as the main pieces for the safety rails? I realise there will be an upright to allow a gap where the ladder will be.
Hope that all makes sense! Project getting going again after a long delay (no time!),
Thanks.
