Black splotches on reclaimed wood

Hi hopefully a straight forward questions for someone.
I have some reclaimed timber taken out of my attic, only pine nothing special. Just run a piece through my planner/thicknesser and it's got these black streaks/splotches going through it. I am assuming it's some kind of mould or fungus. Any idea what it is and if it's safe to work with?

it does look a bit like spalted wood, I don't see how it will affect the performance, it just looks different, I quite like it actually, it has character.
 
Yeah I liked the look of it too. But didn't want to use it if it ended up causing problems later. Thanks guys much appreciated.
