I've got a Record Power BS300E. Is there anything out there better than the standard guides for use with 1/8" blades?
Please post a link or pictures if you have one. Thanks in advance. :D

Ring,

I was excited by this, but having spoken with Yandles today, this new guide is NOT the same as the Carter Stabilizer, where the back of the blade sits in the groove of a bearing. With that, a 1/8" to 1/4" blade will not be damaged by the normal side guides and the blade can turn a much smaller curve.

This this latest guide, although well engineered, will have the same problems in using a 1/8" blade ......... the kerf of the blade will get damaged as there is not enough of the blade to keep in check. As here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGbZqWac0jU

The Carter Stabilizer will do the job well, but the cost to get it to the UK from USA , with delivery, import duty and taxes is about $200, which is a bit costly.

If anyone knows anything more about using a 1/8" blade, other than holding it in wood blocks and letting the blade cut it's way into a space, it would be very helpful.

If it's just a grooved bearing supporting only the back of the blade I can probably make one easily enough.
I'll have to see what bearings I've got and then see if I can make a press fit grooved sleeve for it. Can't do that though until the switch for my Lathe arrives from Hong Kong...

Dam thought i had cracked it with those guides will watch your posts with interest very impressed with what you have done so far. :D :D
Thanks Jim
