I've got an Axminster K8 chuck which I have found to be an excellent chuck.

My question is, will the 100mm(K10) and the 150mm(Goliath) jaws fit onto my chuck mounting jaws?
It would appear that the mounting jaws are the same size for all of them and only the chuck varies in size.

I only have the 'C' jaws and would like to get the big gripper type jaws.

I would ask Axminster but it seems that I always get the village idiot.

Yes the 100mm chuck jaws will fit, just as the 80mm will fit the 100mm chucks, the hole spacing and safety keys are the same, but be careful on how big a load you put on the smaller chuck body.

I would not advise you turn something regardless of weight and balance just because you can grip it with the bigger jaws. I certainly would not use the goliath jaw on the K8 chuck body other than to allow convenient gripping something of bigger diameter for finishing rather than a larger heavier turning.

I suspect, but don't know for certain that the scroll will be a smaller diameter for starters so less load carrying contact with the carriers than a 100mm chuck.

Thanks for the info.

It wouldn't be for large chunks, just so I can grip slightly bigger pieces.
At the moment, I can only hold a 3"ish square piece which is quite small.
I would also like button jaws but they are stated for the k10 and Goliath.

I have finally discovered that my lathe which I've had for a year now actually has a MT1 tailstock.
I feel like a complete fool. How did I not see that before.....
