Anyone here into remote control vehicles?

I used to enjoy a social group where we all brought fairly decent RC Cars and raced them round a field and wondered if there are any such groups still about? The only ones I have found have been racing clubs and the like, which are too serious for me.

There are still plenty of clubs about but i think a good few of them are more serious now just with insurance etc.

Check this link to see if there's a local club. https://www.brca.org/clubs

Check gumtree too. I've seen a few adds for people just wanting to get together and have fun.

I like quadcopters but I'm struggling to find a club near me. The racing looks good but seems to all be down south.

Yes, I race 1/10th 2WD off road buggies at club and regional level. I also race 1/10th Shortcourse trucks in a National series and 1/16th micro buggies indoor as well.

My old 2 and 4 wheel drive buggies:

RC car driving is split into two types:

Racing which is mostly run by the BRCA and requires membership to race at most clubs to cover insurance of the marshals. It can be quite serious as all racing brings the competitive out in people but many clubs lower finals are filled with fun drivers. I do also race at a non-BRCA affiliated club so they do exist. The best forum is oOple http://www.oople.com/forums/index.php

Bashing is the word to describe RC car driving that is not racing. Usually at an open area, quarry, field, woodland, wasteland etc and can be a solo or a mates thing. As it is less formal, it does not really need much organising so not many groups exist. The best forum is probably the MSUK forum which is more of a bashing forum : http://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/ and they do have a few groups organising "bashes".
