So I did a real nice natural edge ash bowl this afternoon.
bowl 1.jpg

All going well despite a load of cracks in one side of the bowl. Fairly even thickness , about 6-8mm, and then the damn tool rest decided to slip and catch the edge on one side.Large lump of natural edge now out of place!

So I finished it off anyway - without the missing bit (initially I superglued it back in but it flew out again later and couldn't find it after!). No finish applied but sanded down.
I could carve around the gap I suppose or even just burn it and put it down to experience!
Any ideas?

Not sure if this will work, but if you could cut a round hole with a holesaw perhaps you could then turn a bit of wood to fit. Glue that in place and turn it to blend in ?

Best make it from something that turns easily.

How about carving out where I have put a line but do it at both ends so as to match. You may need to lose the nateral edge depending on how it looks
