Today I had to fix the brakes on my car as the garage had made a mess of it and after 6 revisits I had decided they were more trouble than they were worth. One of the diversionary hurdles was a need to remove the lip from the outer edge of the brake drums. There was a time when that would have been simple. Just pop them into the Holbrook and bore them. However I ended up making a spigot to centralise them on the wood turning lathe, clamped them with a couple of woodscrews using short bits of wood as spacers. Applied a small angle grinder to the rim as it rotated, as you can see the lips were removed quickly and the drums will now slide on and off easily.

Fantastic idea. I've attacked discs with an angle grinder when spinning on the car before, (very stupid) but this looks like a brilliant alternative.
