I've been reading/perusing a book on African sculpture, and decided I'd like to make my own masks and other objects, to decorate our home. This is my first attempt. I'm calling it Africa Jazz* because it's totally improvised, informed only by my limited study of African masks.

Better, but I'm still not satisfied.
Ok, so I'm not that happy with it. But then it is my first attempt. I'll probably work in it some more. And I'll probably try a direct copy next, so as to learn by following an authentic example.
* also the name of some very cool jazz recordings by the legendary John Coltrane
