    Sold Maguire wagon/tail vice

This vice is new (never fitted) in the original box, all parts and instructions are with it. Really solid and heavy, British made alternative to a bench crafted tail vice. £275. I am in Hexham Northumberland if someone would like to collect.

    Would it be crazy to............

Just to throw my thoughts into the mix, I built a bench a couple of years ago, my own take on a split top (bench crafted) roubo. The base and stretchers are cherry (felled from the plot I built my parents house on). And the top is beech, with iroko dogs and middle tool holder bit. So there is a...

Makita DTM50z MultiTool - Has anyone got one?

I had one of these, like you I have other Makita stuff so only needed the bare tool, I found the vibration excessive also. I haven't got a lot of experience of the other brands so it's hard to compare. The tool is now broken. The little wishbone part in the head that moves the blades from side...

Work Trousers - why the extra pockets?

I never liked the look of the flap pockets on workwear trousers either (still don't) but I'm a plasterer and I step up and down from hop ups (500-600mm high) all day long. I hate having anything in my pockets against my legs. After trying some trousers with the flaps a few years ago all my...

Few tools from local auction. Also need some advice

Hi technium, are you sure the rubber you mention on the wheel isn't just leather that's full of polishing compound? I have a tormek and at first sight it looks like rubber too. Maybe give it a scrape to check?

    Autofeed screwgun...

Hi mate, I have the makita 18v cordless one. It's the version that takes screws up to 55mm, the other one will take up to 75mm from memory. I have mixed feelings about the tool, it is brilliant in an open square room with flat ceilings etc. but if your in a more confined space, sloped ceilings...

Aldi Air Compressor and Air tools this Thursday - Discussion

From memory mine is 9.5cfm. So it's a significant improvement. I'm going to have to try and avoid Aldi for a while. Hi my names Tom, I have a tool problem!!

Aldi Air Compressor and Air tools this Thursday - Discussion

A grinder is a handy tool for hacking out pointing, especially if the old stuff has been patched with horrendously strong "cast iron" sand and cement. If the joints are straight and uniform it can be really easy and quick, less so if it's more random. And careful not to cut into the adjoining...

Aldi Air Compressor and Air tools this Thursday - Discussion

I just had a look at the new version available on Thursday, it looks like the air filler bit (v thing) is completely different than mine, all the rest looks the same though. So it could deliver a lot more air. No mention of C.F.M though. I think the bottom line is that; if your looking for a...

Aldi Air Compressor and Air tools this Thursday - Discussion

Hacking out of the old pointing I do mainly the old fashioned way with a hammer and chisel/hacking hammer then blow out all the dust etc with the dust gun. You can get an air chisel for a compressor but I think they work better with a bigger unit than the Aldi one (bigger than the one Iv got...

Aldi Air Compressor and Air tools this Thursday - Discussion

Hi there, I have had one of the older models (2.5hp) for a few years. I bought it thinking if it lasts a few jobs it will have paid for itself (it cost £69.99). It has periods of no use at all, then heavy use. I ave used it for framing nailer, an 18g brad nailer, cleaning out hundreds of square...

Jet JDP-15 bench drill vibration and noise

The noise and vibration are much reduced. But I still need to properly level the base and bolt it down for maximum stability. I'm confident now that with a bit more tweeking it can be a smooth quiet machine. Like you said, the build quality seems good, I think it just needs carefully looking...

Jet JDP-15 bench drill vibration and noise

I bought one of the ebay clearance jet pillar drills from axminster just befor Christmas. Although it's a different model to yours it had the same issue. The bolts holding the plate the motor is fixed to were loose. I had to remove the motor then tighten up the plate, then re-mount the motor...

    Lightweight Li-Ion Drivers

I'm sure it will be fine mate, try the impact one you will be impressed. Also you are right about the hex chuck. You no longer have to tighten a keyless chuck 200 times a day.

    Lightweight Li-Ion Drivers

I am a plasterer and can recommend the little Makita drivers, I have the hex drive standard driver and the impact driver. I was surprised to find I prefer the impact driver for boarding. It's very controllable because of the impacting so you can nip a screw up a wee bit without the usual...

    Scheppach Basato 4 Bandsaw

I think the one seen in steve`s videos is the larger size. In term of blade size I have found I prefer using a maximum 1/2" blade in my basato 4. I have tried a 1" blade and a 3/4" and find I get a better result with a thinner blade. Im pretty sure this is because this saw struggles to tension...

    Scheppach Basato 4 Bandsaw

Hello there. I own a Basato 4. I find fairly accurate once its been set up really carefully. I think its a little underpowered for deeper rips. With a new good quality blade I still wouldnt be confident ripping deeper than around 8 inches. My only other gripe is the shape the basato bandsaws are...
