    Moldy timber

Hi, I had some softwood stored under a tarpaulin for the last few months. I uncovered it today and around 50% of the timber has mold patches on it. Can this be saved or should it all be binned? Thanks MrD

Thanks for all your suggestions and advice. I think I will use my cheap circular saw to rip the rails off and try an old cheap plane and see where I get to. Although not until all this snow goes! Cheers, MrD

Reclaimed doors into workbench help needed

Thanks for the link JS - usefull info. OPJ - had not really thought about that. I guess my plan was to break down the parts and see what I could use. Maybe the edge where the mortice is could be facing down so it is not visible. It is going to be a workbench so practical is more important...

Reclaimed doors into workbench help needed

Hi, I have 3 reclaimed solid wood doors that I would like to recycle into the base for a workbench. My idea is to break them down into the rails and stiles and then machine them on my new P/T and use them for them for my workbench. Problem is they are either painted white or have horrible...

    Festool TS55 Replacment Blades

Thanks promhandicam, they do look a cheap option! chippy1970, I will need to re-think now. I am on my 2nd blade, the first lasted only 10 or so diy projects. I was having to really push the saw and getting burning smells. At first I thought the saw was out of line and contacted festool. I...

    New Workshop Build?

Thanks for all the comments. Kingcod, the floor was suspended off the ground. Where it did contact I placed damp proof course from wickes. Hi, The workshop is 4.5m * 3m and is a nice size for me. Security is a concern so I will have blinds on my windows and several good locks. The insides of the doors will be 12mm ply so very sturdy and I have security firedoor hinges and strong double glazing. I went for 10mm armoured cable as...

Hi Triggaaar, I will explain as I post more pics and descriptions but quickly: 1. Beef up the foundations - amazed at how much weight they have to hold even before the tools go in! 2. Apply for planning permission and make the roof higher - will annoy me I am sure 3. Get some help - doing all...

    Buying a workbench

Hi, I have seen many great designs of workbench's that have been built by members. i have considered building my own however due to my work commitments this is not really an option. So, if you had £300 - £1000 max to spend on a ready made bench what would it be and why?

    Lie Nielsen for general capentry

Karl, Is that for a reason? Harder to sharpen or risk of damaging?
