    Painting MDF

I want to put a black paint finish on some MDF, last time I tried this I sealed it with two coats of watered down PVA but found the edges were still like a sponge and took several top coats to achieve a decent finish and was a real pain. Also I would ideally like to spray it in order to...

Hello Gav, I have just stumbled across this thread and was presently suprised that someone has made a jewellery chest that I designed which was published in the woodworker magazine a few years ago, nice woods Gav, you have made a nice job of it too. There is a part to this box that has never...

where to buy nice full extension drawer runners

I have used buller on more than one occasion and have been pleased with the quality. I did not find their postage to bad and still worked out cheeper than those offering better postage rates.

Thats a great idea!! I have had a couple of purchases where what was described and what arrived was.....well lets just say that I was disappointed and left me thinking......maybe I will find a use for it some day....maybe November 5th!!!!

    Exotic Hardwoods At Timberline

I was just happy to find some where that had what I needed, I went to all the usual places that advertise stuff on their web sites when in reality they don't actually stock it. I was told by one supplier "well it's not some thing we usually keep....but we can get it for you" Well why have it...

    Heights and boundaries

It may be worth considering the planning permission route, it may seem scarey and costly but its really not that difficult. I had to do it when I built my new workshop, I did the drawings myself (you don't need an architect) and it cost me £139, the last thing you want to do is spend loads of...

    Exotic Hardwoods At Timberline

Its a good job I don't live close enough for a visit as I'm usually like a kid in a candy store where wood is concerned!!

    Exotic Hardwoods At Timberline

I always find a quick phone call is best as you often find out if they have what you want instantly, Emails can get lost, buried and forgotten about and it saves you from waiting from waiting for a reply to something that may not have been read or reached them.....and i'm not just talking about...

    Exotic Hardwoods At Timberline

I have recently been designing a jewellery chest for my wife and decided to use Spalted Beech as the main wood and to compliment the black spalt lines I wanted to use Ebony but have had great difficulty in finding someone who not only advertises some of these more hard to come by timbers but...

    new router?

I have a Dewalt 625EK and use it in my router table, its a good bit of kit but for hand had work I prefer to use my Makita 3612C this is mainly due to the on/off swith (the Dewalt is a bit more fiddly than the trigger style fitted to the Makita) the Makita also has a motor brake facility. If...

    Dewalt or Makita?

I can't comment on the Dewalt but I can tell you that I am very disappointed with my Makita, I used to have a Delta 22-560 which was fantastic until it broke, no snipe and a great finish and when it came to replacing it I read all the reviews and group tests I could find and decided to go with...
