    I recently stained some pine, but it went blotchy, and I've been advised to sand it down again then apply some conditioner before staining again. Do any of the big national retailers sell it? When I did a Google search, it looked like I could only buy it online.

    What would be the simplest technique for securing an angled backrest on a sofa frame like this, with no support struts? (Apologies if that's not the correct term. I'm sure there must be a correct word, but I'm not sure what it is, as I'm an untutored newbie! Gussets?) Presumably, it's not...

    Thanks Lazarus. Someone told me Danish oil doesn't always work properly on pine, but when I Googled it, there was nothing to suggest this. Do you know if it's possible to get Danish Oil mixed to a certain colour?

    Hi all. I'm making some kitchen worktops from pine, and I'm thinking about staining them then finishing them with clear varnish. Bearing in mind that kitchen worktops get more use and get wet more often than other items of furniture around the home, will regular interior varnish do the job...
