Am I the only person depressed by the number of comments with gender or racial stereotypes in them?

I wonder... am I alone in feeling there are too many comments that make generalisations about a particular group's ethnicity or gender and the forum mods should take stronger action? In the past 24 hours on the joke thread there's been a "joke" suggesting that women are better suited to a...

Sold 2 Record RPR 400 roller stands

2 roller stands - the rollers have surface rust and the stands are a bit scabby but other than cosmetics are in good condition. I'm asking £25 for the pair. Collection from Godalming which is about 5 miles south of Guildford. Too heavy to post, but I could wrap them up for a courier.

Sold Axminster White 250mm slide mitre saw

I treated myself to a new sliding mitre saw so my old one is for sale. There's nothing really wrong with the old one, but I fancied something with speed control and better dust collection. It's an AWSMS102 250mm sliding mitre saw with single bevel. Max crosscut is 90 X 305mm and it is light...

    Sanding Sheets from Amazon

Just took a £14 chance on these... They are amazingly good! 14p a sheet! Weirdly, this is the only sandpaper they do https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07X8ND9G1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Dust filter

Having given up on finding a Record AC400 in stock anywhere, I went ahead and bought an 800 m3/h 200mm inline duct fan 2nd hand (which has noisy bearings, but that's a whole other discussion). I plan to mount it in a box which I will pad internally and hang from my 9 ft high ceiling (workshop is...

Mitre saw with good dust collection

Does one exist? I don't really want to go beyond £500 but could if I really had to. Having had an Axminster white mitre saw for a while (dust collection - a joke), I'd like to upgrade to a saw I can use as a hobbyist for the next decade or more. What thoughts?

    Katsu Combi Drill

Has anyone used one of these? They are about £40. I am looking for a drill for a second house in Spain where I only plan to be putting up pictures, putting Ikea stuff together and minor repairs. I am leaning towards the Metabo 10.8v drill and a separate corded hammer drill (I have one spare) as...

    Greasing the bearings

I have an Arundel J4 lathe (not had long)... I notice the headstock getting very warm to the touch. Should I be greasing the bearings? If so, how and with what? There are two little caps that flip up on top of the headstock. I guess I just put some oil in there...

    Thanks for dropping by

Anyone else getting narked off with the incessant "Thanks for dropping by" emails from Axminster every time I visit their site? No one else seems to do that...

    Newbie advice

Hi, I've been reading the forums for a few years and have been woodworking as a hobby for about 20 years... I have just bought a lathe and not having used one since school, I could use some advice! Also, I have some stuff to get rid of and I know you need to make a few posts before you can list...
