Which compound mitre saw to get?

Is the blade that comes with the Metabo a decent one for general cutting such as 2x4 or mdf skirting boards? It's a 56 teeth carbide saw.

Metabo ASR25LSC. Class M filters. The best investment I made.

Which compound mitre saw to get?

I've gone for the Metabo KGS305M for £270. Soft start, decent width and depth of cut and laser. Single bevel but that is fine with me. I dont mind turning the wood over when needed. Could have saved around 20cm of space if I had gone for some Makita models but I would have had to pay double...

Which compound mitre saw to get?

The cutting capacity at 90' seems to be fine at 200mmx80mm. I can live with that because anything wider I can use my plunge and if the wood is thicker than 80mm then I can turn the wood over (which I assume can be done and wont cause any damage?). However at 45' it's only 130mmx45mm which is...

Which compound mitre saw to get?

Funnily enough that is the plunge saw that I have as well. And it's brilliant for straight cuts. I wish someone came out with a proper metal built jig which would allow you to mount your plunge on it and turn it into a sliding mitre saw. That would be superb option for customers although it...

Festool or Makita? Which router to go for?

Can Makitas be used with a Festool track through an accessory guide?

Which compound mitre saw to get?

I was hoping the KGS254M would have soft start. Shame. I believe the Makita ones do but they are more expensive and apparently the cut isn't very square. A bit of both really. Have heard good things about the Metabos (best value or money and quality and design). My budget is £300 max.

Which compound mitre saw to get?

Having sorted myself with plunge saw, class M dust extraction, sander, manual plane and router i am now looking at getting a sliding compound mitre saw for light DIY work at home. I think this would be the best type of mitre saw for me and considering my needs, paying a lot more money for a...

Festool or Makita? Which router to go for?

It looks like the DW625 gets quite good reviews and it's not as hefty as the Makita either. So it looks like a decent option to consider. Do you happen to know if it can be used with a Festool track (through an accessory)?

Festool or Makita? Which router to go for?

I thought tools generally came in 110v and 240v versions and only noticed the 230v recently. I noticed there is a difference in price between the 230v and 240v though. However found a thread in an electricians forum and it seems that the 230v has been brought in to bring us in line with Europe...

Festool or Makita? Which router to go for?

Could someone kindly clarify a couple of things for me please? I have noticed that the router models get sold in 110v, 230v and 240v variants. Now I get 110v is not for house use. But what is the difference between 230v and 240v? Also I have noticed that some 1/2" routers come with 1/4" and...

Festool or Makita? Which router to go for?

If it matters I do use a Metabo ASr25 (class M filters) dust extractor. Not sure if this can be attached to the models discussed here?

Festool or Makita? Which router to go for?

Been looking to buy a router and have narrowed the choice down to Makita RT0700CX2 , Festool OF1010 and Festool OF1400. Router will be used for general lightwork at home. I dont intend to buy multiple routers so I am trying to identify one that will be the best all rounder (or at least nearest...

Can Festool planer be used instead of a handplane?

Don't get me worng, I'm not a brand junkie but I do believe that you get what you pay for. The only Festool tool that I have is a plunge saw and I have to say that it is a pleasure to use. Festool do make good tools. Maybe not all of them are top value for money when compared with other brands...

Can Festool planer be used instead of a handplane?

Looking at the Festool EHL 65 EQ plus and it's got some very good reviews. Can it be used for planing wide pieces of wood (like a hand planer) or is it for narrow wood only?

AWFS18 - finally managed to get one.

Ah right, I didnt realise that. In which case I have got quite a decent deal then. I've found the quick clamp on Hegner's website and I have seen the bearings you refer to as well. I'll give Axminster a call to order them because I dont have any router bits to get bearings from. Can this...

AWFS18 - finally managed to get one.

Could I be so cheeky and ask if you could guide me in the right direction for getting the upper quick clamp and the tension lever bearings please? I dont want to end up buying the wrong thing.

AWFS18 - finally managed to get one.

Thank you :D I intend to start with small stuff like simple little figurines to train my hand with. Like this kind of example: Yes, there's only a couple of pinned blades in there and quite a few spirals. I am not quite sure what the tool less blade change looks like but I have put a couple...
