    Timber identification

Evening all, I have got the chance of some hardwood from a disused building. I think it could be mahogany but I am not sure, I pulled up a few pieces and quickly sanded one of them, what do you think? The wood has been down for 40-50 years but I think a quick run through a P/T and it...

    Wardrobes finished at last

Hi All, Finally got round to posting some pics of recently finished wardrobe build. They are solid ash doors and drawer fronts with an 18mm MDF internal carcase. Drawers are redwood constructed with finger joints with ash faced MDF bottoms. This was my first real project and the advice and...

    Coffin plane refurbishment

Hi all, Whilst at the moment I do not have a great lot of hand tools, the more I "dabble" in woodworking the more I feel it is necessary to invest in a few. Ash doors

Hi all, After some advice, I intend to make some panel doors for a wardrobe and they are roughly 2m high by 450mm wide. I intend to use the rail and stile routed method with a centre rail and two raised panels. Will the joints be strong enough (also which glue to use) as this will be a hefty...

    Elektra Beckum Flip Saw

Hi All, I've got an Elektra Beckum KGT 500 flip saw (great piece of kit btw) and have lost !!! the mitre gauge. Does anyone know where to source spares for this make. I know Metabo have taken over, but their website is rubbish. The mitre slides in a sort of rhomboid track (like a cut off triangle)...

    Buy or build router table

Hi all, New to the site, and after some advice. Got roughly £200 to spend on a router table to go with my under-used Bosch GOF 1500 router. What would you all recommend? Looking at components at the minute and it is looking favourable but if I construct the table top myself what thickness...
