Post a photo of the last thing you made

Some of my recent projects have been: a tool caddy, a la Patrick Sullivan; re-installing a vice on my workbench (haven’t bothered showing a pic of this!); new knobs and handles for some of my old planes. All very basic and not ‘fine woodworking’. But fun and useful. Oh, and I also made my...

Triton AJA 150 for MK3 workcentre?

Thanks, Mike, I’ll take a look.

Triton AJA 150 for MK3 workcentre?

So, Axis Tools tel no is ‘suspended’. Not even sure what that means, but it isn’t good. They’re also listed as having been wound down, although I don’t know if this is the same Axis? This is also ringing bells, as I think I tried to deal with them over a Titan brand tool that stopped working...

Triton AJA 150 for MK3 workcentre?

Thanks guys. I’m trying to contact Axis Tools, re the part. And I do have the secondary table for the router (complete with a DIY fence made by the previous owner!). Plus I’ve found the manual online, so I know which parts are missing (eg the aforementioned stops and protractor).

Triton AJA 150 for MK3 workcentre?

Howdy folks, I bought an old Triton MK3 about a year and a half back. I’ve been happily using it as a table-saw since then. But I’ve always wanted to use it with a router as well. It can do both upwards and downwards mounted work, but… it requires an optional part, which I didn’t get with the...

What's the electric device that allows one to vary the speed of a motor?

Aha, as A. Partridge once said. Yes, VFDs, that's what I was thinking of. Thanks guys.

What's the electric device that allows one to vary the speed of a motor?

Hi What's the name of the electric device that allows one, amongst other things, to vary the speed of a motor? I've seen them in YouTube videos where 'makers' use them to operate gear at speeds the machines themselves won't allow. Thanks in advance, Cheers, Seb

    Mitre/chop-saw recommendations, under £200

Hi, that's great. I'll do that right away. Cheers, Seb

    Mitre/chop-saw recommendations, under £200

Thanks guys. The job prompting the purchase is as yet undone; indeed, heavy rain prevents play! So I'm still as yet undecided. If I could find the Bosch beast under a grand and with payment in instalments, I'd be mighty tempted. ScrewFix have it for a good price, but don't do 'finance'. Spending...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

My current project (a WIP, awaiting arrival of Velcro from Amazon, due later today): guitar-effects pedal-board. Made from scrap-wood. Rustic and functional, as opposed to many of the things I've seen other folks posting here, which are closer to art than my own 'umble craft!

    Mitre/chop-saw recommendations, under £200

I've been recommended/quoted on the Metabo KGS-216 MN - as recommended here by Trevanion et al - at £175, by my local tool shop.

    Mitre/chop-saw recommendations, under £200

Thanks for all the info guys. I'll explore these recommendations. Just to clarify on my current situation: my Precision Power died (motor gone), and my Evo-Rage, ditto. I cleaned the entire thing - the Rage - and replaced the brushes, etc. Still no dice. The reason I'm considering a new saw is...

    Mitre/chop-saw recommendations, under £200

Thanks guys. I'll explore these suggestions. I now know that the mechanism I'm interested in, as used by Neil of 'Pask Makes', on YT, is a hefty Bosch saw with a 'glide' mechanism. And a quick search online reveals these to be in the £800-1200 range... way beyond my means! Sadly £200, as miserly...

    Mitre/chop-saw recommendations, under £200

Hi all. I've gone through a few cheap-as-chips chop-saws, and I'm thinking about buying a better one. My first was a £20/25 thing, off Gumtree, Performance Power (I think?). Very, very basic. Next I got an Evolution/Rage thing, from B&Q, for about £60-70 'ish. Slightly bigger blades and...

Base-plate screws for Titan TTB591ROU Router?

Thanks for the feedback, folks. I'll follow some of these suggestions. Best, Seb

Base-plate screws for Titan TTB591ROU Router?

Hello all, I took the plastic base-plate off my router - a Titan TTB591ROU, bought from ScrewFix - and seem to have mislaid the four screws the secure it to the base of the device. I can't find them, nor any others that fit. I've seen similar threads on here re other routers. Are such components...

    Silverline 900mm F-clamps £8.80 at Birco

Mine arrived recently, and I've used them in several glue ups now. Currently they're helping me glue the leg sections of a workbench (made with laminated recycled Victorian floorboards). And they're proving very useful, and perfectly up to my needs. So I'm very pleased. Thanks again for the...

    Silverline 900mm F-clamps £8.80 at Birco

Hi Sammy, I've just ordered four. Thanks for the 'heads up'. I'm sure they'll be fine for me, at least for a while. As something of a newbie to woodworking I've been buying very basic stuff and then upgrading to better stuff as and when it becomes necessary or possible. Cheers, Seb

Pillar drills: Silverline 262212 vs Sealey GDM-50A?

Thanks for the replies guys. I bought a new 20mm Makita forstner bit, individually; my other forstners were a cheap set of five. The new bit - probably a tad better than the others I have - has allowed me to finish my job: 116 20mm holes in eight beams of some unknown hard-wood, to make four...
