    DRAPER 45L 40130 Vs FEIN Dustex 25L

I've no experience of the Draper but I have 2 Fein Dustex shop vacs in my workshop. A Dustex 25L with a HEPA filter that's hooked up to my bandsaw and bobbin sander, and 35L that's used for general clean-up and connecting to my track saw/router/random orbital sander etc... The Fein's are...

    Kity 636 planer thicknesser

I have one of these planer/thicknessers but the less stylish newer version (3636 I think). I was singing it's praises a few months back at the nice finish it was leaving on figured maple when the magic smoke started coming from the motor... It was running for about an hour and a half. New...

    Startrite Tilt Arbour Fence

Yup, came with the sliding table and extra long fence bars. Sliding table doesn't slide very smoothly unfortunately though. Main reason why I haven't sold it on again already is it just feels like quality and it really hums when it's spinning. Hopefully I can get it to cut well again!

    Startrite Tilt Arbour Fence

Thanks again lads. Big load of work has just come in so the table saw surgery will be put on hiatus for a month or so. There's a good bearings company close to me here so when I get round to it I'll probably bring the spindle down to them and have it done properly. Mickthetrees, do you mean...

    Kity 636 motor burn out

 Thanks lads. I'll have him disbarred from my advice-giving committee! (And he seemed so sure... ) I'll see if I can find a place that does rewinds so and then maybe keep an eye out for something with a bit more muscle (stop-gap #2). There is an old Multico for sale not too far...

    Kity 636 motor burn out

Hi there, I recently picked up a fairly well used Kity 636 thickness planer. It was supposed to be a bit of a stop-gap till I could raise the funds to afford something with a bit more grunt and I was hoping I'd get a couple of years out of it. But lo and behold last week during a moderatley...

    Startrite Tilt Arbour Fence

Thanks lads, you've been a great help. The saw is in considerably better condition now than it was if still not quite 100% there. I managed to lift the fence body off the table so now it just runs on the bars. There's still a bit of 'lag' in the movement but I think I can get around this using...

    Startrite Tilt Arbour Fence

Many thanks Ttrees, I lapped the flanges yesterday and it actually made a significant difference. Still wobbling but hugely reduced. I've been meaning to remove the belts and possibly replace them but so far as I can see it would involve removing the motor. This was a 3 phase machine at one...

    Startrite Tilt Arbour Fence

Good thinking about the flanges actually. I'll try that when I'm back after lunch. The blade very noticably wobbles when it's speeding up and slowing down but at full pace it looks fine. So I don't know if this is cos it's just spinning so fast that I just can't see any deviation or if it's...

    Startrite Tilt Arbour Fence

I recently got my hands on one of these lovely old table saws, in pretty good condition except for two main problems. The blade wobbles slightly giving a very poor finish on long rips and the fence doesn't operate very well. When you turn the wheel to move the fence the far end kind of drags...
