    Bloody Parcelfarce strikes again

Lol RogerS .. double, why don’t you? You’re probably the most intelligent guy on this forum (with the possible exception of Phil.p) but you get so played. I’ve got no animosity towards you .. just a frustration that you don’t open your eye!

    Coloured Box

As a piece of turning, and being an honest admirer of your work, I think I’d look to the sentiment over the form there. In relation to the text I would have looked to an internal inclusion of something like 神に誓って But we all find our path our own way :) Keith

    Bloody Parcelfarce strikes again

Blimey RogerS Regardless of whether something is Kosher/Halal/basically edible , surely you’re more than smart/egalitarian enough to spot that maybe someone simply doesn’t like you ?.... for example your courier! Just take their contracts away from them .. then they may slowly pass through...

Be wary of what you say to your doctor

.. and don’t forget Amazon history! As a keen supporter of our PM I’m very engaged with the balance between national security and freedom.. and my take is that the reality is that you’ve nothing to fear but yourself... unless of course someone hi in 5x5x5 decides to lie about you!

    Hello all

I’m just a noob here... but welcome indeed! Anyone who knows of Ayn Rand and doesn’t dismiss her as a bunch of old Aristotle but looks more to eudaimonia gets my (probably ignored!) vote!

Be wary of what you say to your doctor

Apart from the title of the thread being an eternal truism.. I have two observations for you.. for what little value they have! 1. One of my friends was joint no.2 actuary at Legal & General for a while...so I know it’s true that actuarial stats (based on experience) are what drive pricing and...

    Soldiers on Parade

Aah..my bad..apologies (informants get stuff wrong sometimes!).. your ‘Shards’ was turning of the week on AAW .. not cover... well I guess it may still be cover, but turning of the week is still pretty good !

    Soldiers on Parade

Yet more quality. Did I see one of your bowls on the cover of well known magazine too? Nice to see you getting the acknowledgement you rightly deserve.

    Axminster 2030 lathe

Lol...nah ... I changed my mind ...cancelled the order ... vicmarc vl300 evs asm is a much better machine imo ...gonna get that instead ...’buy the best you can afford’ ...the vicmarc is only a fraction of the cost of our last trip to Istanbul on the Orient Express ! ;) (as is the Robust AB)...

    Wpa2

Agreed. internet as we know it is dead in the water. And companies who are marketing iot home security are either malicious or stupid. All foreseeable, largely. Apart from WiFi hub and printer we never got iot kit (tho heaven knows what our old sky box and tv do without telling us) printer is...

    Wpa2

I guess this is well known, but just in case anyone was asleep ... https://www.wired.com/story/krack-wi-fi ... ty-broken/ We’ve given up with WiFi (including broadband) completely and have instead acquired a squadron of semaphore trained carrier pigeons :)

    Axminster 2030 lathe

It’s more lathe than I’ll ever need, and at £2.2k with the legs and extension bed included it’s effectively the same price as the 1628 with legs and extension bed. £2k is barely a week’s family holiday these days ...easily justified ...ordered. :)

    Axminster 2030 lathe

Just in case anyone is interested, I noticed the above lathe is reduced from £3k to £2.2k today (13/10/17)..making it only about £300 more than the 1628. Seems like a good discount to me!

Opinions sought on a buyer/seller dispute.

I have no idea about the law on selling second hand electrical goods. I would guess you need specialist advice. If it was me I would offer him a full refund if he isn't happy and ask him to decide if he wants to do that within a time frame of my choice. If he doesn't take me up on it, then...

    Brendan Stemp video Oval Turning

I couldn’t resist replying :) I’ve finally got round to ordering my ‘Vicmarc Oval Device’ ... for elliptical turning ;) ...just need to wait for ?Vicmarc to make it now ...but no hurry. I do like Brendan Stemp’s videos ...watching his stuff on skew chisels helped me a fair bit thanks for...

What Chuck to buy for new Record CL4

I’m no expert, so I can only offer a layman’s opinion. After lathe, wood and tools I find sharpening to be the most important, next priorities being dust management kit and a chuck. But that’s just me ...more experienced folk will prolly be along and give their opinions too.

Record Maxi 1 or Axminster 1628vs

If that's what you want then, subject to a definition of 'big' in context, maybe get in touch with Phil Irons as well? I'd be surprised if you weren't impressed by Robust's 'American Beauty' lathe!

White vs Ruby vs CBN wheels

Errm, thank you ..lol! I tried some Pelforth Brune once (or maybe even twice..!) ...didnt seem too bad ...though I think the Belgians may do a little better than the French at beer! Maybe Father Christmas will bring me a cbn wheel!
