    Very nice, £2, what a bargain! Seen a few wooden planes, never heard of Axe & Hields, presumably an off-shoot / take-over from the maker Hields.

    What about using a Japanese flattening stone. http://www.toolnut.co.uk/products/sharpening/sharpening_stones/Japanese_Flattening_Stone.html I've used one of these on various stones, works really well.

    Timbo are you looking to.. - return the plane to the original appearance - return it to a good working state that has the feel of a plane with history I would say the finishing of the plane depends on which of these you are looking to achieve.

    Badger Plane--Now with blade!

    Nice, looks like a plane which will scrub up well. Its got a good clear makers mark on the front nose which is a bonus. There are some photos of badger planes on Old Tools with photos of the blade and cap iron including would you believe it, one of a John Moseley & Son, Bloomsbury, London...

    Nice collection, look in good nick. It's quite common to find a missing nicker wedge.

    The Pax saws are really nice... Which Pax dovetail saw are you looking at... the Maple 1776 or the beech handled version?
