    Workshop update

Thanks all! These are the quick clean up shots, most of the time there is stuff everywhere! The floor is 1" polystyrene on concrete garage floor (which has a small slope) and then 22mm chipboard t&g (glued together to form one big floating floor). It doesn't move with all this stuff on it! Very...

    Workshop update

I've been somewhat busy this year trying to get my shop into a more efficient layout and storage facilities etc. It's still in progress but most of it is done. Thought some of you might like to see some of it... Cheers Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

what photo hosting? And Instagram question.

Excellent No Skills and Glynn! I'll have a look for you in a minute Glynn. If anyone wants to get on Instagram and does not know how or if you're a bit unsure about it I can email you some PowerPoint slides I made with info on how to setup your account and how to use IG. Might be of help to...

what photo hosting? And Instagram question.

Hi No Skills, as Doug and Jon have said Instagram is growing rapidly and is global. I'm on there under a new name = one_man_and_his_benchdog ! There's a fantastic amount of stuff and so much easier than other ways of sharing what you're working on in your workshop. Plus many famous woodworkers...

Very nice, certainly different. Are there lights in it, if it were mine I reckon I would've done that? But lovely job. cheers Steve

    Bifold Doors Project

Thanks Roger. I totally agree about the sliding door/fixed panel. Yeah, the track is useful with this rail system, I was in 2 minds about whether to use it or not. I did experience some cupping of the step part of the frame in which the track sits. I probably would have been better using 2...

    Bifold Doors Project

Like the mythical firebird, the Phoenix, this post has risen from the ashes! Sorry for the delay, although I guess those who were originally interested will have totally forgotten about this by now! Anyway, I can now say that the bifold or folding-sliding doors are now up and running...

    Air compressors & headless pinner

Haha, yeah, everything has been nailed down so no one can nick anything! :)

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Yeah, it's obviously big enough to take a few 8x4 sheets, a few half sheets and at the back it has a couple of general offcuts storage areas. I always plan to use up my sheet stock as soon as I buy it but the plan always fails and I end up with sheets all over the place. Sheet offcuts also get...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Made this sheet material store thingy-bob. Quite handy. It's hinged at the far end to the wall and has castors so you can swing it out away from the wall and slide sheets in and out. Totally ripped the idea from Marc Spagnuolo/Wood Whisperer video on You tube. :D

    Air compressors & headless pinner

Thanks Olly as well. I made an executive decision and went for the SGS 24L starter kit... http://www.sgs-engineering.com/air-comp ... tarter-kit plus the bostitch headless pinner gun http://www.screwfix.com/p/bostitch-tu-2 ... nner/64047 so hopefully can now fix mouldings in place really...

    Air compressors & headless pinner

Ok thanks gents. Looks like if you're spending all day nailing then a bigger capacity tank is needed. But for occasional/hobby use then waiting for the tank to refill is less of a problem. I'll take a look at your suggestions, cheers

    Air compressors & headless pinner

Hi, I'm considering buying an air compressor and a bostitch TU-216-2330K 23g headless pinner. e.g. http://www.betcofasteners.co.uk/shop/bo ... -30mm.html but not sure what kind of compressor I should get for this. Can anyone suggest one which would do the job? Obviously I want to keep costs...

    A wee problem...

Just wanted to mention that we managed to fix the leg by routing out the corner along the whole length of the leg. This went through the tapered end (floor end) of the leg but after gluing in another strip of ash and subsequent planing it didn't look too bad. Obviously not as good as if the...

    A wee problem...

Thanks Roger, yeah, that sounds like a good idea, plus easier to rout the whole edge on a router table. Finding the right piece of ash may be a problem, but either way I think this is a much better suggestion. cheers Steve

    A wee problem...

Hi folks My father-in-law (also a woodworking nerd) is visiting us at the moment and he brought his current woodworking problem with him, how kind!!! He's making a chest of drawers out of ash and whilst making the frame (frame+panel construction) he ran into this problem. He was routing by hand...
