    Etching on wood

No but I was tempted to buy one and try it. I read somewhere that it takes a bit of practice to use but if you can draw freehand accurately then you should be able to use one accurately. That one I linked to says it has holes for a "Rotozip"...I looked it up and apparently its a handheld...

    Etching on wood

You could try looking for a Trend "Router Sketch". It's literally dirt cheap (less that £30) compared to a CNC laser engraver. It allows you to transfer complicated detailed drawings/artwork and/or text/writing to a work piece using a router. Apparently they stopped selling them fully...

    Got me a Record Power DML36SH-MkII! :)

No photos, but I can tell you about my first experience setting it up. The legs and bed-tubes are held together with a single bolt which pulls down on cast Iron wedge clamps under and on top off the two cast Iron end brackets. Whilst this was probably done to reduce the number of assembly...

New 2011 Metabo KGS 254 Plus - anyone got it?

Well, the other day I won a used KGS216 Plus on ebay. D&M sells them new for over £330...Got it for £130. :) It should have been £150 C.O.C, but I got him to knock £20 off as the laser wouldn't switch on. The work piece clamp was also missing. When I got it home I rang Metabo UK to find out...

    answer me this

Trend make something called a Varijig Clamp Guide that sounds like just what you need. You can get them in different lengths...I have the 50" version which is long enough to allow perfectly square cuts to be made across 8' x 4' boards and they do a 100" version which is long enough to allow...

New 2011 Metabo KGS 254 Plus - anyone got it?

I found this old thread whilst searching for more info on the Metabo KGS 254 I Plus, a lovely new style "motor over blade belt drive", double-bevel sliding compound mitre saw I am presently very interested in buying. The I stands for Induction Motor...Something that I consider extremely...

    Got me a Record Power DML36SH-MkII! :)

Got it off ebay...Came with the optional legs, a large 4 jaw chuck, a box of various bits and bobs, including a spur drive, fixed centre, revolving centre, several face plates, various tools, a couple of some sort of collet chuck, etc, a very large toolbox (that everything fits inside, except of...

All the parts I need are on their way from Axminster...about £45 the lot.

Portable/bench top thicknesser - which one?

I got an email back from Axminsters special purchase department saying the dust extractor cowl is available, for £12.50 + postage & vat. Cheaper than I thought it would be. Well I picked the MB1933 up on Friday evening, after work, and finally had a chance to try it out yesterday...The motor...

Portable/bench top thicknesser - which one?

I have just bought a used Axminster MB1933 planer/thicknesser on ebay. It's got an 1800 Watt motor, same as the Dewalt DW733 which I used to have, but it can cut a bit wider 330mm vs 315mm. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but hopefully it will be as good as the Dewalt. I need to get a...

    7/16" guide bush for a Freud/Casals FT2000VCE???

I rushed out after work and bought a Trend Unibase (Just over £15, including 20% VAT) and the two Trend guide bushes I needed -7/16" and 5/8"- for just under £9 each, inc. VAT)...I am hating the Unibase already as believe it or not, even with all those umpteen different holes drilled in it, only...

    7/16" guide bush for a Freud/Casals FT2000VCE???

I've just managed to get my hands on a lovely Leigh D4R Dovetail Jig but it requires that you use an 11.1mm (7/16") guide bush on your router with it...Problem is I have a Freud/Casals FT2000VCE which takes guide bushings with a flange diameter of 68mm. Leigh do a 703 adapter for the FT2000 but...

sutable for router table?? please help

If you want good results, a simple homemade table is probably not the best way to go about it. I'd recommend to look for a used Trend router table on ebay...An old, used router table can still give far more accurate results than using a home made table.

A week in the Windsor Workshop Final Episode

Great result! Who'd have thought there are still people out there making chairs using traditional methods? I had no idea! I'd like to make something similar, but if you think you were apprehensive whilst making it, its not as apprehensive as I feel about trying to do the same! I'm far more...

Freud/Casals FT2000VCE router BRAND NEW on ebay!

Negative feedback now given to Belltools! I wrote: "They are liars!...Selling USED equipment as "Brand New"! Dont trust them!!!" Hopefully that will stop them being able to sell that obviously used Freud FT1000 they currently have for sale on ebay, also advertised as "Brand New", despite having...

Freud/Casals FT2000VCE router BRAND NEW on ebay!

Unless they have changed the feedback system since I had that problem, as far as I am aware sellers can still give buyers negative feedback?

Struggling to cut 35mm hinge holes in MR MDF - Advice please

Just a thought...Why not use plywood instead of MDF? Ply offers several advantages...Even a blunt Forstner bit will drill into ply like a knife through butter. Ply would be better for making cabinets for use in areas where damp can be a problem like kitchens and especially bathrooms as MDF...

Freud/Casals FT2000VCE router BRAND NEW on ebay!

I guess I got a bit hot headed about it, but so would anyone if they found out they have been deliberately conned. Still, as they are not going to pay up I doubt they will say anything to ebay. I'm more worried about getting negative feedback. I don't think they have given me feedback yet...

Freud/Casals FT2000VCE router BRAND NEW on ebay!

I have emailed them asking them for a small refund of £25 off the £125 I paid them for it for knowingly misleading me...Even though I threatened them with negative feedback and being reported to trading standards they are refusing to pay up. I only have two options..1) keep it and lump it, or...
