It will only get worse when it arrives - start printing out templates and preparing wood while you wait! :D Chris

    AWFS18 vs Hegner Multicut 2S m/s

Bah, amateurs! I had to move my 480kg lathe from the garage, where Axminster dropped it off, into my workshop, which involved moving it over a step. Just took my time and thought about it for a month, planning a group of mates to help, but then I did it alone. Chris

    Jig Saw

I just hope for your sake that she's not reading this - your contributions would be sadly missed! :D

    Jig Saw

Yes, might do something like that for my mother. She'd probably enjoy it even if she didn't remember where it came from! Chris

    Jig Saw

Personally, I'd use a scroll saw and do them freehand one at a time. If you do a stack you have to do them slower anyway, and you've got the problem of keeping the stack together as you cut the pieces, and you need to keep the different jigsaw's pieces together after they're cut. With a fine...

Well you live & learn re sanding sealer / thinners ;-)

I was ASF, not 5 or 11. I was a fairy so spent most days playing bridge or darts while the heavies ripped the aircraft apart and then rebuilt them. I wasn't interested in aircraft in the slightest, I only joined for the electronics training, but it was fun when we managed to get 25 of them in...

Now there's a smell I've never forgot from my time at RAF Binbrook, burnt Avpin fumes! Chris

    Bow and Bells finished

With this and Ted, both of which I really like, I feel inspired to give it a go. Now all I need is time and a bit of effort :D Chris

    abcdefg...

Thanks, it's painted with cheap acrylic paint from 'The Works' or similar (stole it from my wife's craft room, shhh) with a couple of coats of spray lacquer to give it some protection from sticky fingers. The letters and numbers are painted just on one side so the little one knows which side...

    abcdefg...

Sometimes, the most basic of things give a huge amount of pleasure. Made this for one of my granddaughters who's starting to learn the alphabet and she loves it. Now we're both having fun playing with it and learning :) Chris

    Landrover Intarsia

Looks pretty damned good to me. My brother-in-law would love something like that for his birthday so I may be asking for the pattern before next May :) Chris

    Parkside Power Tools Lidl

I bought the 18v circular saw last year as I wanted a replacement for the manual saw I used to use for cutting up sheets of plywood in Wickes car park - works a treat. I didn't bother with the guide, just use a length of wood and a couple of clamps. I found a much better supplier for plywood...

    Sea Eagle Intarsia - WIP

That's exactly the process I use, even to the colour of the masking tape and the different colour for the narrow bit, although I use a purple glue stick that I found in my wife's craft room. I've no idea what the glue stick cost but I like the purple colour as it allows me to easily see where...

Blade Holder - practical, not posh

The side plates are simply fastened on with a bolt in each corner, so at some point I may just make a replacement (or buy one from Axminster) and modify it, keeping the original in case I ever sell it. Projects lined up include loads more word art type stuff that various family members are...

Blade Holder - practical, not posh

Ah, well, if I'd bought the next size up then it would have the test tube slots, but I have plain blanking plates on mine. I have considered replacing the plates but I'm not a fan of working with thickish metal, especially when I can play with the scroll saw instead :D Chris

Blade Holder - practical, not posh

After a couple of months of owning my new scroll saw, the pile of used blades sat at the side of it was growing. I've tried a number of different blades while trying to learn how to use my new saw. I'm now starting to realise that I can't remember which blade is which, especially if I've slept...
