    Ashwood chest

    It's circa 450mm high. Lugs of wooden hinges tenoned through the end cleats of the top. Pic 2 is closer to the real colour. Wedged through tenons. Can double as table or seat when closed. Note that the lid is self-parking when open - no stays required. .

    Dovetailed chest

    How would you cut all these dovetails? (yes, they do protrude 2 or 3mm for sculptural effect.) I suppose you think that you need to buy some expensive gadget? Well, there are no routers, dovetail machines or jigs involved here! I'll also bet that I cut them faster than it would take to set up...

    Terminology!

    When and how did a circular saw bench become a "table saw"? I suspect it's an Americanism. A bandsaw has a table, a scrollsaw has a table ... so the term isn't very explicit. I rest my case.
