    bowl blank log cutting

I had a pdf explaining how to cut a log into pieces for bowl blanks etc . it basically split the logs into semi circles and then split the centre into planks, discarding the core. I cant find it anywhere on my computers or the web. do any members have a copy or could point me in the right...

    Coronet mkIII

just bought this, it has the bench, table saw and planer attachment. The spindle is seized on it and it generally needs a good going over. It hasn't been run for 10yrs so should be fun getting it going again. I bought it as a refurbishment project to give me some brain stimulation with the...

    vicmarc VL100

Hi chaps, Ive found a downloadable manual for the VL150 up to the VL300, but cant seem to find one for the VL100. I think the potentiometer is faulty on the one I'm looking at, but would like to go through the manual first. Symptoms are random drops in revs and then speeding back up again...

    Weighting my lathe down.

hard to suggest a solution without more info. a few heavy duty angle brackets and some big screws might do it if you can get them into the joists (i assume) of the wooden floor. if not then span the floor with some 3x2 the whole length of the lathe and put plenty of screws in it and then screw...

    bandsaw motor

thanks for the replies. just to throw another handful into the mix, would there be any benefits/snags (apart from cost and faffing about) of changing the motor from star to delta and rewiring using 240v (l+n) and capacitors? would the torque be the same as 3 ph? (i doubt it) the reason i ask...

    bandsaw motor

picked up my bandsaw today from the joinery shop. Ive been a tad busy this year and paid £50 for it about 4 months ago. i'm changing the motor on it because its 3 phase. am i right in assuming if its 750w motor on 3phase a 750w single phase motor will perform the same? its a whitehead junior...

    Pimp my pillar drill

screwfix or a local plumbers merchants will sell chrome pipe snaps. they come in 200mm lengths but are available longer too. cut with scissors dead easy. cheaper than chromed pipe. like these http://www.screwfix.com/p/talon-snappit-chrome-200mm-pack-of-10/93035

    chuck wobble.

thanks for the reply. 1 adapter has screws up tight to the collar, does not rely on the thread. 2 there is a register collar though it might be a tad loose (will check) 3 adapter does seem to run true with my basic test, the only movement i can find is at the back of the chuck. I noticed a...

chuck wobble as per title. goliath chuck by axminster probably about 0.5mm at slot number 4. its mounted to a luna sp 1000 via an adapter made by a local engineering firm. I removed the adapter, cleaned and oiled the thread, and mounted it back on the lathe. Then cleaned and oiled the male...
