new bandsaw: axi hbs310 or metabo bas318?

thanks for your feedback. hmm.... where to start? the fence and miter guides are rubbish (really!) on this saw, the table is not flat (!!! - this baffles me), it´s a real PITA to adjust the table tilt. all these are problems that are not user´s fault (except the user being too naive not to...

new bandsaw: axi hbs310 or metabo bas318?

oh forgot to tell... it´ll be mostly used for guitar work so it´s light stuff. max depth i need to cut on a regular basis is 8 cm thick spanish cedar (the hbs250n can´t do it). a good working fence and tilting mehanism would be next on the list (again, rubish on the hbs250). thans!

    Rasps from Portugal

please note that i´m not 100 % sure, maybe Feteira has bought the northern factory or something. But i doubt it. cheers, Miguel.

    Rasps from Portugal

I don´t think bahco are made by Feteira. at least not all of them. Bahco are made in the north of Portugal , while Feteira´s factory is near my place in Leiria. Feteira is an old and respected brand around here. I have some small files from Feteira and find them very nice, but i use them...

    Laburnum stability ?

thanks guys. I know it has been used for fingerboards, but my main issue is long term stability.. Ebony has been extensively used but still its stability worries me, so Laburnum could perhaps be an alternative. I might use it for an all domestic wood guitar, a thing most makers seem to want to...

    Laburnum stability ?

How stable is laburnum once dry, can anyone tell me? I'm planing on buying some for making guitar fingerboards, I guess anything should be more stable than gaboon ebony... Thanks! Miguel.

    band saw drift question

Hi, just a quick question for the more experienced (than me, at least :)) folks around here. I have a small 10" Axi bandsaw , aka piece of junk, but with a nice after market blade (from a respected and trusted seller). I found out that the BS preformed better with the blade running slightly...

small (bench top?) planer / thicknesser?

this little P/T at rutlands (http://www.rutlands.co.uk/sp+planer-thi ... 0mm+DK6724) got me thinking... i could find some uses for a small planer thicknesses - not every day feels like hand planing day to a guy with carpal tunnel syndrome... my needs are very modest, i won´t need to surface wood...

    cheap workbench?

Thanks fro the replies, I guess i could try to build a bench - the main problem with rolling my own being that i don´t have any dedicated power tools to make it easier. I don´t have routers, thicknessers, planers or tablesaws . I´d also rather invest my woodworking time into something more...

    cheap workbench?

Hi all, I´m thinking of buying a new, cheap workbench. I wonder what are your opinions (if any) on these two models: - Sjobergs Nordic Plus ( http://www.axminster.co.uk/sjobergs-nor ... 1450-bench ) - Rutlands Joiners workbench ( http://www.rutlands.co.uk/sp+woodworkin ... a+m_dk2700 )...
