    Best acoustic insulation?

    I Have been asked to make an insulated door for someone. He wants it insulated for heat and sound with sound being the higher priority. Anyone have much experience with this? Preferably needs to be something thin.

    This is the tenon jig i made a couple of months ago. a lot of the jigs out there couldn't manage to cut a tenon big enough for what i wanted. i borrowed some ideas from Matthias Wandel at woodgears.ca however his jig also would've been too small.     A door/gate made from dry timber probably won't shrink back to its original size as the uk is pretty damp all year round. it is best to have a decent sized rebate just to cover any shrinkage gaps. also re staining/painting/varnishing/oiling any edges that you have planed off to stop more...

    Never seen any need for a spindle moulder really as most of what i do can be managed at a push with my router table, but i've seen them at good prices second hand and wondered if one might be useful. as i've never used one or seen one working i really don't know much about them so any advice...

    exterior oak door

    Depends how exposed the door is to the elements. will need regular recoating with danish oil, never seen it used successfully really on exposed oak. don't think anyones come up with the perfect exterior oak finish yet. have had most success personaly with a clear wood preserver and then tung oil.

    I'm building a land yacht and need to make a mast. It needs to be pretty straight grained and preferably available in long lengths so i don't have to splice 2 pieces together. Any sugestions what i should go for? Thought maybe ash or perhaps douglas fir. Anyone know any reliable timber...
