Doing favours for those with two x chromosomes!!

I too regularly fall victim to this with the in-laws, paricularly the 'mother-in-law'.. Can I just knock up a small display cabinet to display her youngest sons dr who figures, how many and what size I say ? Oh not many, about 80 to start with but leave room for more, and what size ? Oh they...

Louvre + t&g boarded door project

Many moons ago ! Lots of flying going on then though, gannets, sea furies, sea hawks and more I would like to have seen it back then when everything was new and not falling to bits ! Youll be pleased to know the blue anchor is still here and still the hub of activity on the anual 'flora day'...

Louvre + t&g boarded door project

Ahhh I see.. As a lowly contractor we dont mix much with the navy, well only when they break somthing ! Did you do a stint at culdrose then ? Thanks stimpi, glad you approve ! Doors if im honest are one of my favourite aspects of the job too. You noticed the boards, I hate non-symetry in my...

Louvre + t&g boarded door project

Thanks ! Yea its a 6mm grooving cutter with an undersize bearing above so it will cut a groove 8mm deep into the stiles/top rail. I would usually run the groove before assembly after cutting the rebate but as this door was square shouldered (no rebates) and the groove was only needed for the...

Table legs. Am I over thinking this?

Lots of good advice been said here, definately do a mock 'dry' assembly to check it will close up tight. If it were me doing it I would arrange the grain on the two halves so it looks circular, like a tree and use a few biscuits just to align things, it will slide on the glue when you clamp it...

Good Idea and a Brave Man ?

No ! Bloke wants his head looking at.. Side loading that Iong cutter up like that is asking for somthing to snap, router @20000 odd rpm, workpiece at god knows what rpm - turning TOWARDS him, no thanks !!

Why does this machine cost so much? Oscillating edge sander

It is, but doesn't clean up rough timber as well..

Louvre + t&g boarded door project

Thanks for the comments ! Honestly, ive probably made around 8 or 10 doors now similar to this one in all ? Although this was my first t&g and louvre'd door ive done ! The workshop is a decent size but id like it to be just that, rather than full of everybody elses s**te aswell ! The...

    B*******g Up a Door

Nice job, as said much better than a plastic set. Many man points acrewed for hand planing all that oak, not an easy task !

Louvre + t&g boarded door project

Thanks bob. Yes I went for the easy option when it came to the louvres, theres nothing worse than a frantic glue up ! I agree I never like painting something that could be varnished/oiled, etc but its on a naval base where most doors are painted either 'chive' (army green) or 'verona' (in your...
