What do you think of this table?

So anyone got views in the table? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Soild-oak-ext ... 4170fb2034 Wondering really what sort of job you think sanding and refinishing the top would be? Cheers!

What do you think of this table?

Ok, well I've been continuing to keep an eye on ebay - I was thinking about putting in a bit for this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Soild-oak-ext ... 4170fb2034 It actually looks in reasonable condition as is, but eventually I'd like to get the varnish sorted out. The legs remove, so I guess...

What do you think of this table?

Thanks for the comments. I'm still undecided, notwithstanding the mainly bad (but some good) comments. Ultimately we need a table now and I can't spend upwards of £500 on one. I would be keen to look at ebay (and have been), but there is a lack of light, proper wood, extending tables...

What do you think of this table?

Given the limited information - what do you think about this table? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Solid-Oak-Din ... 4abc867f48 I realise the notion of buying solid wood furniture rather than making it is a bit weird for a woodworking forum, but I don't have the gear (or the skill) to make a table...

Henry Vac for Sanding Disc Dust?

Thank-you - I had come to the same conclusion and checking that set-up as a "good idea" was my next step. My plan is to have sander -> cyclone -> henry (with micotex filter + hepa bag) - I've contacted both the Dust Deputy company and Cyclone Central to see about getting one the cyclone sorted...

Henry Vac for Sanding Disc Dust?

On the cyclone/seperator front, this looks like a really simple/compact method. I could just make that into the top of a small bucket. A lot of the designs I've seen for the thein seperators require routing (I don't have a router) - so the simplicity of this design is appealing...

Henry Vac for Sanding Disc Dust?

Blowing the dangerous stuff about was my main concern - "mess" I can deal with. I'm not going to be doing very much sanding - so a part of me wonders about just wearing a mask - but I figure its better to be safe rather than sorry - plus, I imagine that the dust stays airborne for quite some...

Henry Vac for Sanding Disc Dust?

I've just picked up a Jet JSG-96 disc/belt sander. I need to sort out some sort of dust capture for it - and I'm hoping to be able to use a spare Henry vacuum to do so. I've been able to connect it to my bandsaw with good success, but the Jet sander has a 100mm extraction socket. The Henry vac...

    Bench sanding options

I need to get a bench sander for the main purpose of sanding circles using a circle sanding jig like in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmfJqUGIRE8 Whatever I buy mus be able suitable for that purpose and I'll also be sanding various (normally small) bits of wood. I've been a bit...

Bulk cleaning old dirty and rusty tools

Thanks for all the replies. Point taken on the chance of spoiling something that might be appreciated by others. I think the majority of the tools are probably diy grade - the previous owners weren't enthusiasts or professionals. I've not yet had time to sort them, but when I do, I'll post a pic :)

My new (second hand) Hegner Multicut 2 just broke - fixable?

Well I managed to replace the part. Required taking the motor off and some of the bolts were really well fused, so it took some effort. All is back together now and I've done a few test cuts... fingers crossed it lasts! Cheers!

Bulk cleaning old dirty and rusty tools

I've recently been given 6 large boxes of hand tools to sort through - and if I want, keep. None of them have been used for 20 years and I would imagine most of them are far older than that. Nearly all of them have signs of rust, moving parts are stiff and they are generally grimey. I'd like to...

My new (second hand) Hegner Multicut 2 just broke - fixable?

Looks like the replacement bit that I've got has some lubricant already in the middle of it. I might try and crack on with the replacement tomorrow while I've got some spare time, but I will check about lubricant reccomendations. The part is actually plastic. When I was speaking to the chap on...

    Thank-you - I'll get some of that wax :)

My new (second hand) Hegner Multicut 2 just broke - fixable?

Thanks again for all the advice. I phoned Hegner in the end and spoke to a gentleman in the technical department who was really helpful. I ordered the broken part and the missing bellows and I've finally got a bit of time to fix them onto the saw. As you can see from the video, the saw is a...

My new (second hand) Hegner Multicut 2 just broke - fixable?

Thanks very much for the replies. I've emailed the folks hegner.co.uk to confirm that the part listed on the above link is indeed the one that I need. When I know the price, I'll contact the ebay seller and try to come to an agreement with them for the break + non-variable speed. I'd rather not...

My new (second hand) Hegner Multicut 2 just broke - fixable?

I bought a used Hegner from ebay and it has just broken after about 10 minutes use. I was in the middle of making a cut and all movement of the arm stopped and I could just hear the motor turning. I removed the wood and tried switching it on again and there was a loud banging with each turn of...

Blade choice for Hegner MC2 on 12mm Birch Plywood?

Hi, I'm going to have a try and making some wooden gears. I've got some 12mm birch plywood which I've read is a good material for gear making since it won't expand much under heat. I managed to get a used Hegner on ebay but am going to need some blades. I've seen people mention "Mike's Workshop"...

What to buy first - router or table saw?

I'd be doing all the work inside - its quite a big flat, with a big open kitchen/diner area where I'd plan to do the work. I figure I'll be doing a lot of sweeping every time I do anything... In terms of noise, I'm above a shop, so there's plenty of time when I don't have immediate neighbours...
