Nice work area. I am in a shed that's 8x6 :-) Thinking of putting the motorbike in the shed and the lathe in the garage, That will give me a lot more space but my little lathe will be lost in the corner!

Beautiful piece of work. I wish I was as skilled as you. I would make the stand look a bit more rustic as the sharp edge on the base is in contrast to the flowing curves of the shell. But nevertheless its a stunning piece.

A friend of mine in the States has a new Nova G3 chuck which he is sending me. Apparently it is a 1" x 8 TPI. I have been looking on line for an insert to convert it to 3/4 x 16 TPI and can only find direct threaded chucks. Is it possible to buy just the insert or are these chucks only...

Fraser, I have a Record DML 24. Great starter lathe - in fact its the only lathe I have ever had. Mine is bench mounted, as opposed to being free standing. 3/4 x 16 spindle. It takes a little setting up to get the tail/head stock in line but its just a case of getting the bench level or pad...
