    Giffgaff seems to be the best rate-wise. Orange seems to be the worst - it certainly was for me charging a minimum of £2 per day for Internet use (even if only for a few seconds) and 25p per minute to call their help-line! As marcros said ... if you go with giffgaff, get someone to have a card...

    eBay

    For a long time ebay have insisted that unrealistic pricing on shipping is not allowed. At one time, they insisted that certain items (e.g. DVDs) must be free-shipping. I guess they have finally decided that the only way prevent high shipping being used to reduce fees is to take this step. ebay...

    Doesn't it demonstrate that there are lots of people with lots of money to spend? It never fails to amaze me to see such silly prices for non-essential goods.

    Lathe advice needed!!!

    It can be fairly easy to extend smaller lathes. I have a Record DML24,one of the cheapest good lathes. I replaced the bed bars with 1 3/8 round bar in about 15 minutes to make it 48" and it is VERY sturdy. As pointed out above, for thinner work such as cues a middle support will be essential.

    I have a Record CL4 with Bowl turning attachment and stand which I've been intending to put up for sale for the last year. I still use it occasionally but its hardly had any use since new. Not enough time.... :-( 8x6 shed is plenty big enough for this kind of lathe, a grinder and a bandsaw ...
