Would never have thought of that, thank-you so much. I'll give it a go! What is a full finish?

    Table top scratches

Guys I have a dining room table from around late 80's, it has lots of fine scratches and appears to be both laminated and lacquered what can I use to both remove the scratches and give the surface a new lease of life?

    Thin Kerf Circular Saw Blades

I might pop along to the show and ask for advice. I'm also in the process of replacing the blade to see if that will improve things.

    Thin Kerf Circular Saw Blades

Eric I have "Record BS350" I can only guess at what the BS stands for. There are so many areas on this thing where the adjustments are not fine enough. As an example the machine has 4 guide bushes, 2 at the top and two below the table. these flop around with so much play that it is impossible...

    Thin Kerf Circular Saw Blades

Just found a 250mm blade at NLS Tools with a kerf of 1.5mm, they say a max cutting depth of 30mm, useless for what I want to do.

    Thin Kerf Circular Saw Blades

Thanks Robin, Not sure I could get the depth of cut I need with a smaller blade. Resawing on a table saw with the 2mm + kerf creates so much waste. I do have a band saw and have adjusted as well as I can. A previous post I made, a reply from a member gave a link to how to set up your...

    WorkBenches

I have ordered a couple of Axminster Trade Plain Screw Vice Guide (big ones) by all accounts these are pretty good. I already have a small 6" record type vice that I have had for 30+ years possible put that one on the end. Tony

    WorkBenches

Neil, Thanks for that. I was expecting to have to tie to the wall but fortunately there is no wobble evident even when using a handsaw. I think the build is more than adequate now to be free standing without being supported by wall or floor mounting brackets. It is surprisingly heavy for...

    WorkBenches

Guys, Just an update. Due to the advise from you guys I took the plunge and built my own bench. I was concerned that softwood would add no real weight and due to this lack of weight the bench would be quiet wobbly. My concerns were unfounded, so far there is no movement at all. Okay it is...

    WorkBenches

Lots of good useful comments, thank-you. After reading the comments I have decided to try and make my own bench, after all what is the worse that can happen. Thanks again Tony

    WorkBenches

Not sure if I have that capability to make it as I would like it. I have costed the materials like Beech plus hardware like vices not sure I would be saving that much really. I did think about plywood as a top but concerned it was too soft for the job.

    WorkBenches

Guys I'm in the market for a Workbench. I'm considering either the Axminster Premium AS Workbench or the Sjobergs Elite 2000 Cabinetmakers Workbench. The Sjoberg is twice the price of the Axminster one and I am not sure if I get twice the product. http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-pr ...

Table Saw Axminster BTS10ST or Bosch GTS10XC

Mike The Bandsaw is a Record 300E. From memory it takes upto 3/4" blade. It isn't the best in the world I know but all I could afford at the time. I'm sure it is my technique and the set-up which is at fault. As my school teacher used to say "must try harder" Thanks for the links...

Table Saw Axminster BTS10ST or Bosch GTS10XC

Hi Mike, I do have a bandsaw and do use it for resawing, though not very good at it. I think I would get on better with a table saw as the blade won't wander and I'm only resawing small bits that are well inside the cut depth of a table saw. A proper table saw is far too big for my small shop...

Table Saw Axminster BTS10ST or Bosch GTS10XC

After a suggestion to look at a Dewalt DW745 (Alexfn), I did some investigation and found that although a bit dearer it appears to have all the functionality that I need. There are loads of reviews out there and an enormous amount to be found on YouTube Okay you cant fit a Dado stack to it...
