    Metabo orbital sander oscillation setting.

Hi, I have the same sander. the easy way is to look at the sanding disc when it is spinning (have the disc facing you not at the work)any little bits of dust on the disc will create little circles either 3mm wide or six mm wide when you look at the disc. if it is a new sheet of sandpaper you...

    Portable table saw, Which one?

Hi, Patrick, I have put buying the portable table saw on hold as I don't seem to need it and I always have the flipover if I need it. But it is good to know that the Bosch is good because I might buy one if I had a job coming up where I thought it would get a lot of use. The timber merchants...

    SXE 450 Vs Dewalt D26410

It is the same machine and it is also the Mafell one as well. The metabo is usually a bit cheaper. I have one and it is a great sander, try to get it in a systainer box and then it will lock on to other systainer boxes and it will keep all your sanding discs nicely organised. Cheers Kevin.

Posting my first pic (** WARNING - 1.2 Mb Download**)

Hi, Colin, I have just read all this post and admired the pictures and have to say that what you have done is absolutely fantastic. These things must take ages to do. Well done and I am sure if you have any more pictures of work people would love to see them. Thanks Kevin.

    Good veneerer in North London

Well I went to Capital Crispin over off Carpenters Lane in Stratford way and found it interesting and them friendly. The Zebrano they had was not as straight grained as I wanted and seeing a lot of it I think it might be a bit too much. Poggenpohl kitchens do a Zebrano door on one of their...

    Good veneerer in North London

Thanks, they were on my shortlist. I have never had any veneering done before and I wanted someone who take some trouble to do a decent job. I think in my original question I should have said all london as I am sure there are some good veneerers in east london I just dont know which ones. thanks...

    Good veneerer in North London

I wanted around three 8 by 4 sheets done. It is for a kitchen so I don't want to try to do it myself but thanks for the offer to show me. Kevin.

    Good veneerer in North London

Hi, I am planning to get some birch ply veneered with Zebrano veneer on both sides. Leaving the birch ply edges exposed. Has anyone used any veneerers that they are happy to recommend? Thanks Kevin.

    Portable table saw, Which one?

Oh dear, after all this debate I went to a tool shop to see some saws and have to say that I really wanted the Festool cs50. It was so light and with all the extensions on it, it really would be a great tool BUT at around £1,350 it is so overpriced. That is a lot of money for a portable saw. I...

    Paying through the nose ?!?

The Mafell LNF20 also comes in a nice systainer box with a lift out tray for your biscuits. Cheers Kevin.

    Paying through the nose ?!?

After Scrit praising the mafell biscuit jointer LNF20 on here before I went and bought one from D&M tools and I must say it is alot better built than the Dewalt one which I also looked at. The fence on the dewalt looks cheap where the Mafell one clicks nicely at all the set angles you need. I...

    Portable table saw, Which one?

Hi, Thinking about it some more, weight is an issue and that Festool CS50 is tempting at under 20kg. I guess I need to go to a toolshop and try and pick these babys up! Since I got the Festool ts55 saw I don't tend to bring the flipover with me unless I know I am going to need it. Any other...

    Portable table saw, Which one?

Thanks again everyone, Maybe I will try to improve the dust extraction on my old Elu. I have only half tried in the past. I have been lugging it around for the last 12 years I guess abit longer won't hurt. ( O yes it will, It's bloody heavy!) Cheers Kevin.

    Portable table saw, Which one?

Thanks for all the replys, You have all given me something to think about. That triton workcentre looks big, can you move it easily on your own up and down stairs? I store all my tools in the cellar of my house and I often have to move my tools into someones flat or up stairs into someones...

    Portable table saw, Which one?

I am a quality carpenter who does a lot of built in furniture mostly in MDF. I have the Festool TS55 saw, MFT table and the ct22 extractor, which are great for cutting up big pieces of wood on site but not so good when you want lots of small or narrow strips or all the other great things that a...

    Fixing butt hinges on MDF

Hi, I fit mdf doors with butt hinges into softwood frames all the time and sometimes mdf frames when I need a wide side panel. Like someone said use long 45mm-50mm thin screws and pilot them full depth with drill bit that just lets the thread cut into the mdf. Use butt hinges with staggered...

Best and Worst buys in the last 12 months

Hi, I bought the festool ts55 plunge saw about a month ago after thinking that it was too expensive for a circular saw, for the last two years it was on my list of things that would be nice to have but not really need. How wrong I was! It really does speed up cutting sheet material and with a...

which sander? Metabo duo or festool rotex 150.

Well I went to the DM show and bought the Metabo sander. Wow!! this ROS really makes small work of sanding rough timber. Very pleased as it came in a systainer box with lots of sheets of sandpaper thrown in. It is my first Metabo tool and it feels like real quality. They also supply it to Dewalt...

which sander? Metabo duo or festool rotex 150.

Thanks for all the comments everyone, I think I will go to the DM woodworking show on this weekend at kempton and see if I can get my hands on a Metabo to try at least. I spoke to Roy at festool and he says he will look into the extractor filtration but as far as he knows its the same as the...
