Anyone know who makes this Workbench Planer?

Fairly certain it was originally sold by Sip. Have a look on Google images for Sip bench top planer and scroll down. Unfortunately, I can't quite see the model number but a call to them may solve your problem. I hope this helps

    Thinking of new Disc Sander

I have the Record DS300. It's a good machine with more than ample power. The cast iron table is accurately ground. By far and away the best feature is the dust extraction which works brilliantly. If you have used a disc sander withoit extraction you will immediately appreciate this feature...

    Blizzard toy 4” wheels

Hi Keith. Have a look at their TW100 wheels. The photo they show only displays one side but I think the other side is moulded exactly as in your photo. I purchased some from them around 5 months ago to make my Grandson a toy tractor and have a spare one in front of me as I write this reply. It...

    Coronet Consort chuck recommendations

Hi, not wishing to contradict anyone elses advice but your Coronet Consort will have a 3/4 x 16 spindle thread. It is the same bearing and spindle as used on the earlier Coronet Minor and Elf. Regarding the chuck options, a record RP2000 would be ideal. It will cope with the capacities that the...

    Record 044C Plough Plane

Hi Secondhand Tools in Devon currently have an unused set of blades for 044c on their website The price which includes postage is probably more than you paid for the plane but I expect you would get close to your money back if you find the plane is not for you Cheers

    Suggestions for starting again.

Hi Mike Although a frequent visitor to this site, I rarely feel that I have much to contribute but having worked in Schools (through Caretaking to Premises Management ) for 28 years I do have an understanding of how they work. I can only say what I would explore if I were in your position. It...

    Coronet no3 correct head lubricant

In case it's of help, some time ago I purchased a main bearing for a Coronet Major from Derek Pyatt of Coronet Woodworking. The bearing used in the Major is exactly the same as used in the Record Coronet no.3. Derek specified using lawnmower oil to lubricate the bearing and this has worked...

    Help choosing wood?

Having made several hutches when my children were younger I would recommend : 12mm exterior ply for all solid panels. Keep all framework on the outside so that the rabbit can not chew it, it also makes it easier to keep, the inside clean. Make the hutch higher than most shop bought hitches to...

Coronet Major - Motor speeds and Paint Matching?

Hi the three speed Majors have speeds of 2000,3000 and 4000. The closest colour match you will find is Ral 3005. A good synthetic enamel is Tractol their code for Ral 3005 is Tractol 329. Smith and Allan will supply the paint for you via eBay in either a brush on or spray can. I hope this is...

Would a Coronet Mayor lathe be worth buying?

Hi Dennis. I have only just managed to see your photo of the lathe. While I,m sure the lathe itself is fine I would be inclined to remove the grinding wheel as it doesn,t have the grinding wheel housing that the later models had. if that wheel fractures you would be in serious danger. I hope...

Would a Coronet Mayor lathe be worth buying?

Doesn't matter at all. The colour changed to blue in 1977. If your lathe has the fixed grinding wheel on the outboard side of the headstock it will be a later model built just before they changed the colour.

Would a Coronet Mayor lathe be worth buying?

Hi The grinding wheel on the outboard side of the Headstock on the Major (I guess that your Major is a blue model) is very useful. The beauty of it is that you can use it on the lower lathe speeds to avoid burning your tools. One drawback of course is that the grinding wheel is turning the...

    Startrite ta175

Hi Until recently I had a Startrite 165 and also used the same model saw at my place of work. On both machines I found that if when adjusting the saw to the width of the desired cut, I placed the fence further out than I wanted it and then moved it in towards the blade to the width i wanted...
