Hi all,
I have recently been given a fairly old drill press made by Walker Turner, model No DP1040. It’s pretty large and is extremely heavy. I have spent a fairly substantial amount (3 figures) having the motor overhauled/rebuilt but feel it’s worth it because the quill is substantial and has...
I've been using some I bought from Amazon:

I hope that link works. They do 2 options - spot or "flood". The magnets are really strong although the metal disks they supply to stick to non-metallic...

I too had the quandary of...
I'm about to have a new starter fitted to my lathe, which has a reversable motor. The electrician has pointed out that he could fit a Forward/Reverse Starter, but it is pretty expensive.
My question: what are the advantages of being able to reverse one's lathe?
Sorry for not getting back to you Sam. I have mixed results for you following my meeting; if you want to give me your email address, I will drop you a line with some contact details and other results. Chris (Bond) aka UpstartThread97.
If you've also got the planer thicknesser and the extension/take-off table that sometimes comes with it, then you need to allow quite a considerable amount of "swing" space. Alas, my system is also in bits at the moment, so can't help you any further on that one! I too am in process of building...
