Sawing / cutting turned wood on a lathe

I'm just catching up with questions. I've made one duck puzzle, trying to make a second when the cutting of the segments went wrong. The bottom diameter is about 75mm. Anyway, about to trawl charity shops to find a suitable knife to convert into a thin parting tool. Thanks everyone for the...

Sawing / cutting turned wood on a lathe

I needed the cuts to be as thin as possible so that the reassembled segments would retain the majority of the original shape. On-line videos are informative, I'll probably try my hand at making a thin paring tool ready for next time. Thanks.

My lathe is a Coronet Elf. I've acquired this chuck (unknown manufacturer) which is 3 3/4" in diameter and weighs 2.6kg - 5lb 12oz. This feels very heavy, is it too heavy for my Elf? Trefor

    Headstock thread adaptor.

Hello. I have a Coronet Elf lathe with a 3/4" 16tpi thread. I have acquired a used 3.75" chuck with no indication of the manufacture's name. It has a standard M33 thread and an M33 3.5 to 1" 8 tpi adaptor. So I'm looking for adaptor so that it will fit my 3/4" headstock. The start of the...
