Entertainment Unit - cost advice wanted

My feeling is that the level of difficulty is minimal. The challenge will be the time spent building it and cost of materials. from a pro's and cons perspective here is my 2 pence... PRO's - its modular in design so you can build the bits separately and assemble in the location it will end...

    PHOTO's

FYI if you click on any of the images posted in this thread they will open in their own tab / window so you can view them full size :) the smaller image in the thread makes sense from a readability perspective, particularly on mobile

Making a graduated slot in maple

My advice would be to use the router. A jig would be as simple as you want. The way I would do it is to keep the piece flat and create a jig that has an incline on it. This will smoothly raise the router bit out of the material as you move it alone the jig. In my head it is similar to the...

    Parkside ash collector

Thanks for the info claymore. I have to make a bunch of adaptors for my machines as the ones I am using at the moment are not great so no problem there. At the price it seems like a no brainer but i wouldn't want to buy an absolute lemon.

    Parkside ash collector

So I was in Lidl today and spotted that they have an ash collector for £29.99. I’m in the process of building my mitre saw station and thought that this would be perfect directly under the mitre saw as its own dedicated dust collection given he fact that it kicks out a load of dust. Does...

Sinking / insetting a cupboard into dry wall/OSB

I put in a 1.2m tall shelving unit into my wall with only silicone. Admittedly i built it with a snug fit with bracing on all sides to keep it in position. I then siliconed around the perimeter and I cant for the life of me pull it out of the wall! I think it is secure enough :) The great...

Converting Garage to Workshop & Introduction

Really interested in this thread. I too am converting my garage into a workshop / gym. I cant offer any advice on the questions other than provide some council. I have toyed with the idea of boarding out my roof but still want to retain access for large items such as a roof box. The...

    1500mm wide wardrobe

My immediate thought beyond the weight is the distance they will encroach into the room. Is there enough space? Have you considered sliding doors? I'm sure an extra hinge or two would help but it just seems that a door that big would also be inconvenient from an ergonomic perspective.

    LED Light Strips

I have just that on my shelving unit. 6 small strips run off one driver plugged into a socket I spliced in in my loft wiring. Just a bit of solder and some wire. It really is very simple. here is a pic of the lights working before I installed the shelves.

    LED Light Strips

just fitted the channel from LED hut into my bathroom shelving. It is good stuff and the plastic shrouding dows a good job of dispersing the light so it does no't create spots on the shelf bellow. The other benefit is that they do a backward facing 45 degree angle channel to do exactly what...

    Bathroom shelving advice

Hi everyone! This is my first post but have been lurking around for 6 months or so. I have recently been re-bitten by the woodworking bug and decided I needed to sign up to the forum not only to solicit advice but to also give back to the community any way I can in the future. I have a...
