    Pillar Drill snatching wood.

As stated I was holding it and it still spun round and clobbered my thumb. I will try and make a bracket like stated above. I tried loosening the belt on the pillar drill. That seems to help too. Thanks for help everyone.

    Pillar Drill snatching wood.

Thank you for suggestions. I wish the Pillar drill had a clutch. Maybe loosening the belt slightly would allow the snatching to be caught.

    Pillar Drill snatching wood.

3mm pilot hole, then 10mm to hide brass screw. Is it worth trying a Cobalt bit over the HSS?

    Pillar Drill snatching wood.

Hi. When I'm drilling voids for screws in a small cabinet project, the drill sometimes grabs the wood (Oak) hitting me in the side of the hand (ouch!) and ruining the piece (Oak). I ploughs straight through the wood. I have already made a pilot hole and using a 10mm HSS drill bit to drill 4 or...

HSS Drill bits vs Brad Point Drill bit.

Its a pillar drill. I drilled a 12.5mm brad point hole, then put a 12.5 hss in and it wiggles quite a bit. Tried 3 brad points and they all do it. Maybe its a bad batch.

HSS Drill bits vs Brad Point Drill bit.

I don't have one to hand. Even a 12mm brad is making a wider diameter than 12.5mm HSS. Its going through MDF btw.

HSS Drill bits vs Brad Point Drill bit.

Ok, so I bought some decent HSS drill bits and Brad point bits for pilot hole accuracy. (I find HSS are not great for precise guidance in larger sizes) The Brad points seem to drill bigger than the HSS of the same size. I tried 2 and its a good 0.5 of a mm bigger. Both were 12mm bits Is this...

Do 12.5mm Spade Drill bits exist?

Thank you. The 1/2 bit will make a hole o.2mm bigger. Hopefully it will be negligible.

Do 12.5mm Spade Drill bits exist?

Hi. I need to insert some 12.5mm plastic pipes into a cabinet and need a tight fit. I have drilled pilot holes and have general 12.5mm drill bits, but because they are so large, they don't centre perfectly and wonder off line. I did a job in the past and used 10mm spade bit and it was far more...

Drill bit with Forstner countersink? Does it exist?

Thanks nev. I did intend to do quite a few holes so at least I know they do exist. Just got to find a 10mm one :)

Drill bit with Forstner countersink? Does it exist?

Sorry for stupid question, but I cannot find this bit or know if it exists. I want to drill a 10mm hole with a larger flat counter sink to hide a screw. (see example). I know theres confirmat, and counter drills, but none seem to offer just a flat forstner type counter. Does such a drill bit...

    KATSU router/trimmer

I can offer a mini review of this trimmer after owning one for some time. For the money, its excellent. It doesn't feel as good as my Dewalt version, but it routes smalled jobs well. My criticisms are minor, but are: 1) Power cable stalk points in a way that gets in the way if you are...
