Can't find the water valve in the street. Any ideas?

Phosphoric Acid is dosed into the supply to ‘coat’ the lead piping . There’s still thousands, if not millions, of houses supplied by lead piping. I know mine is !

    Moving a 20ft container

They’re easy enough with a couple of pallet trucks, empty obviously and on decent ground ! I’ve done it a few times.

    Chalk deposit in toilet pan

Spirit of salts is Hydochloric Acid. Unless you’re using industrial strength HCL , you should be fine.

    Chalk deposit in toilet pan

Have you actually tested the water hardness ? It could be that the ion exchange resin is ‘spent’ and needs replacing. Test just before you regenerate the softener beds, as you could also possibly be over-running them and the resin is reaching the exhausted state prior to regenerating. It is then...

    Any plumbers out there?

    Hotel Near Dover

As someone who spends most weeknights in hotels, going some where new I would nearly always start with a Premier Inn. No, they are not always cheap nowadays but you do know what to expect, which is a clean , warm room with a decent bed ! You can always look for somewhere cheaper /closer to work...

    car recommendations

You could do a lot worse than look at a Ford S-Max. Big , comfortable, not too low for the old uns, good on fuel and very reliable. With all the seats down you have more space in the back than in a small van. I really do miss mine !

    cat urine

My ex next door neighbour had several cats, and when they left the new owner completely gutted the whole house. He ended up having to replace all of the floorboards downstairs to get rid of the smell.
