    Site and Workshop Joinery Magazine

Oi!!!!!! Trouble is we real chippes dont have the time like Joiners to sit down in the warm and read a mag then fall asleep over a coffee sitting on the bench! I get really fed up with many of the DIY type mags and would love one more trade orientated, as basically they are...

    PVA and Polyurathene wood glues

As stated, PU has little or no strength in the actual expanded gap filling areas. But afaik it has never been claimed otherwise. For normal indoor joinery, I guess i would stick to pva or cascamite, but it's horses for courses. I live a high salt air enviroment with many damp drizzling days...

    PVA and Polyurathene wood glues

Andy, I really like PU, and my employee swears by it. BUT it DOES expand. To get the best out of PU dampen the wood down a tad 1st. It will stick like hell, but will also expand a lot. So, either clean the wood off very well afterwards, once it has expanded, or use good quality pva then clean...

    PVA and Polyurathene wood glues

I have been using PU glue for about 4 years now. I've used in in every conceivable situation, including to glue 5 mtr long 5" x 5" beams made in box section and glued together. That was 2 years ago. I've got about 30 external gates stuck together with Pu that are still going strong. I still...

    Commonsense out the window (again)

On December 27th at 09.47 in the middle of the Fresh Prince of Bel-air, on virgin 1, Huge letters came up on the screen P*nis Envy. It was trailor about a show that evening about the various sizes of, cough, manhood. My Kids (13 & 9) were embarresed and disgusted. I was horrified. I...

    Discounts at Travis Perkins

I have a trade a/c at TP. I can access their prices online. They are extortionate even with trade discount. Last month I wa shopping around for 1540(yes that is correct) sheets of 11mm stirling board. From both of my local independents I got around £7 per sheet. TPs best price to me was...

    Solid Wood flooring

Ok. Traditionally boards always start from groove against the wall working outwards. Boards were nailed thru the tongue for fixing, this would not be possible groove out. Furthermore if you buy proper floor laying/fixing kit the "knocking blocks" are always designed to go over the tongue. It...

    worktop kitchen sink hole

I have fitted hundreds, literally hundreds, of sinks and have never ever had the need to use anything but a jigsaw, with decent blades. Doesnt have to be a decent jigsaw (though it helps) but the blades make a real difference. cheapo blades are liable to bend and drift. Read the instructions...
