    Record BS300E Upgrades

These look good from Rikon but shipping from the couple of places I've found selling them is costly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tG6gdUAY6TA https://rikontools.com/productpage_10-900.html

    Drilling cast iron.

Hi Instead of drilling the table could you not use 'T' slot nuts that are used to secure vices and other items to wet tables. Just a suggestion so you wouldn't have to drill the table. Cheers karl

804 semi review + loads of pics

Hi Your new toys looks brilliant. I believe the marking on the tables is due to the cast top being milled flat if you would like a surface as good as norms then the only way I know of to achieve this would be to get the top surface ground at a machine shop, but it would require a large surface...

Norms Table Saw Blade Height Tool?

Another good accurate possibility is ti use a engineers vernier height gauge. They are up on ebay for a low cost. A sold one. I would thinks that this is the most accurate way to do it. Karl

    Hammer Drill Advice Please

Hi I have been using a blue Bosch SDS drill at 3.0j from axmister to punch a few holes for 100mm waste pipes through brick. the drill copes really well and I think it would not have a problem going through 1" concrete. If not then look at the sizes above and there are a lot of used hilti...

    Energy saving device for freezers

Hi Chas What you have described is correct for constant speed induction motors that are used continuously but the load is either on or off and during the off period the motor power can be limited thus saving energy. Andy has said that the motor will draw more current but the power will be lower...

    Energy saving device for freezers

cheers for the reply Tony at least you know what you are saying, the other guy was saying that if you adjust the voltage then you would adjust the speed which is not true. Adjusting the time period though will vary the speed because you are adjusting the frequency of the supply which is what i...

    Energy saving device for freezers

What he is saying though actually appears to defy ohms law. Surely if a a motor is drawing more current then the power consumption is going to go up which inturn means the motor will heat up more and more energy will be lost as heat. If they are doing this with large motors then ir will not be...

    Energy saving device for freezers

Hi Just been readding your post about the control of large AC induction motors, I always believed that the speed of rotation was governed by the number of poles and the frequency of the supply, or are you using other types of AC motors? I thought that fridge compressors were run by induction...
