Thank you everybody.
Some very useful places to try there. Lots of time saved by your answers - especially in avoiding machining the timber - nightmare!
Why do people go for a square edge rather than T&G?
How should I put the board on the concrete (I suspect it's fairly flat - it's a new...
Hello,
For flooring - Is is worth getting sawn oak boards, running them through the P/T & T&Ging them myself?
Or is it only slightly more expensive & massively less hassle to by boards that are finished & clip together etc.
It sounds like it should be simple to do a floor from scratch, but...
Hello,
There are so many different ways to clamp a four-sided (i.e. picture-type) frame - what do you do?
I think I'll have to get some kind of cramp etc.
I'd be very grateful for your thoughts.
Nick
Hello,
I have a rather lovely-looking Tischler Workeug ECE (Primus) jointing plane that's 39.5cm long and also a Record No.4 smoothing plane (+ others).
I would like to get the best out of them and would really appreciate some advice on properly setting them up. I've been using them for a...
Hi Woodenman,
I'm very happy with Makita ones I have at the moment. Just been using them on 18mm ply so far. Have no problems, despite putting some within 3-4mm of board edge.
Good luck with your choice, Nick
Hello,
I've had the little Tormek for a number of years now. I feel the need to pronounce the name with an exaggerated Swedish accent.
I'm very happy with it, it's been reliable and I find it gives a fine enough edge (very fine actually) for everything that I need (once you've honed with the...
Hello,
I'm finally considering spending the extra and going for a HMS260ci planer thicknesser.
I see that Poolewood sell them for £813.18 inc VAT and del.
If anyone can quickly let me know if they know of a better deal, I'd be very grateful.
And, for that matter, please add any comments re...
Dear Dave and Scrit,
Thank you both very much indeed for your advice. I'm definitely NOT going for the Wadkin, but I'm not disappointed. You have both saved me a great deal of trouble.
Many thanks again. I think I'll go for something rather more modest such as the APTC/Fox machine (not the...
There's a substantial Wadkin Thicknesser Planer 20" 3 Phase
Model RM1164 for sale. Does anyone have experience of changing the motor/s (is there a separate feed motor?) to single phase?
Many thanks, Nick :?:
Many thanks for your responses everyone,
I've been trying to find a web link for the magazine Neil mentioned, but can only get subscription sites. Does anyone have a contact for them?
Thanks, Nick :?:
