In a moment of clarity/madness I just ended up buying the Laguna after all. I ordered it from Yandles as they're doing a decent package deal. Lets hope it's as good as the reviews!
I had a metabo thickness planer a while back with a thicknesser bed that was adjusted in a similar way and the finished boards were parallel and flat, although it did need some re-alignment after a few years of use, but at it's price point I was not surprised.
There are others with a similar...
A 3D printer would help with the dust extraction port definitely. I would think if the bed is made parallel to the drum and the bolts secure it should keep the sanded board flat a d parallel, but that would all depend on build quality really, that's what I am concerned about.
No problem Tren, here's the pdf I followed. The only thing i would recommend doing differently is not to cut the angles on the steel either side of the clamping handle as per the plan, as it makes it a bit difficult to fit the measurement marker. When I get some time I will be re-making mine...
Hi Tren, sorry you've had these alignment issues with your table saw, but sounds like you've got most of them resolved now. Thought I'd share my experiences as I have the same tablesaw and also had the same issues.
To align the blade to the table I first removed the alignment pins completely...
I've been shopping around for a wide drum sander for some time now. I like the Axminster 400mm wide sander but can't justify that price, same for the Laguna. But I've seen Lumberjack have released a 450mm...
Thanks! The larch T&G sounds great. I was considering a wooden structure at first but ended up going with a steel frame with box steel sheeting as it seemed cheaper and quicker for its size. It's 14x7m in total split into two 7x7m "rooms". The workshop being one and a horses stabling area the...
Thanks Ozark, good to know there are other 275 owners out there!
I haven't had a chance to look into it any further as I am half way through building the workshop. The rising and lowering of the blade is a little jerky but otherwise good so the UV joint is holding out for now. As soon as the...
I did find a manual online, unfortunately it does not shed any info on the dimensions of the universal joint but does show thread size and other useful info for other parts which others may find useful.

Hello all, I am the very proud recently new owner of a Startrite 275 tablesaw. I've had to clean out about 20 years of dust and the rise & tilt is now smooth. What I've noticed though is the blade rise & lower universal joint is on its last legs, i've seen the very pricey "official" part but...
Looking really good so far Will, I am very keento see how your wheel truing router trunnion guide contraption works! I too have purchased Matthias' bandsaw plans and am interested to know why you've decided to build the 20" version? I can't decide whether to build the 16" or 20"...
Just thought I'd share my experience of fitting the Chain Leg Vise from Jim at Ancor Yacht Services in the US (http://ancorayachtservice.com/?page_id=196). I got the deluxe kit and all the parts are quite substantial and really good quality. The fitting instructions on his site are really good...
I purchased the FTG 200mm blade from Doug at Cutting Solutions in January this year, the blade is really good quality and the service from Doug was fantastic, highly recommended!
