Hi, thanks for your reply. My wood supplier has just told me that he is not happy supplying me with this timber as it will be wet when cut and will split. He couldn't come up with any alternate suggestions. Any ideas what timber I could use apart from oak (expensive) to build this?

Hi can anyone tell me the difference between the Axminster AW19FM morticer and the Draper 09896 morticer. The Draper claims to handle up to 1" chisels but the Axminster only 19mm mortices. They look identical. does anyone out there know and if so are they any good? thanks in advance peter

Ok thanks for your advice re ebay. I was hoping to buy a new machine maybe something from Axminster or the like. I see a machine from Draper on the web quite often for about £500. Has anyone any experience with these? regards, peter
