    Wood ID

Evenin' all........ could anyone hazard a guess as to what this bit of wood is. The colour as it shows on my screen is pretty accurate. It's obviously a hardwood as it's very heavy. Thanks all

    Wood turning type blanks

Thanks for the info Arnold. I'm actually up the other end, near Saltash and not very mobile at the moment, but I'll maybe be able to get down that way in the near future. I like your neck of the woods, so it'd be no hardship. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, I've come across a local...

    My experience with this forum

I wasn't quite sure where on the boards to put this, so I've bunged it here....... I've only recently joined the forum as I've decided that I needed a winter hobby, 'cause I can't get to my boat and I've always liked messing around with bits of wood. This last week I needed some advice with by...

    burgess band saw help

Thanks Andy - I've read that - very useful. I think I know an auto electrician - I'll have a word with him, 'cause I'm of the opinion that is the motor starts, the capacitor must be O.K. - - mind you, I could well be wrong. Anyway, I'll see what he says and go on from there. Thanks again all

    burgess band saw help

Wow - all this help, thanks guys...... I don't think it's the capacitor, 'cause the motor runs when it's not under load. If I take the blade off, the motor will start and run but I can stop the pulley with my hand, so it seems to me (as a total non-electrician) that the windings may be shot...

    burgess band saw help

'Ello all, Does anyone know where I can get a motor for my Burgess BK3Plus band saw. I've tried several tool spares people, but all they've got are spare blades.... I don't need them, I've got 21! Any info much appreciated.

    Wood turning type blanks

Evenin' all, Does anyone know where I can get some hardwood blanks, similar to bowl blanks, about 1 1/2" thick and 10"-12" diameter? I've tried G & S who seem to advertise extensively, but after 3 emails and 2 phone calls, I've not even had the courtesy of a reply from them, so I've given up...

    Black & Decker advice please

Mornin' all, Being of advanced age - and probably experiencing the onset of senility - I've decided to start some woodworking as a hobby and a bit of escape from the real world (and her indoors!). I've been looking for second hand tools and came across a Bleck & Dooper router - a toy I've...
